During what was known as the "Iron Age" period, mankind was violent and savage and thus Zeus decided to punish them by sending a great flood on earth to wipe out mankind. However, he spared the lives of Deucalion and his wife Pyrrha as they have shown great hospitality towards Zeus in their humble hut, not knowing that they were actually receiving the King of Gods as their late night visitor. Zeus saw that the couple was good hearted and kind and thus allowed them to survive the flood. Zeus also wanted Deucalion and his wife to create a whole new generation of mankind which was stronger and better. As a result, Deucalion was known as the Water Bearer as he survived the flood and also created a whole new generation of mankind.

Aquarius has a freedom loving soul that craves independence. The Water Bearer lives in his own world with his own set of rules. He defies normal societal standards and scoffs old-fashioned tradition. He always aims to stand out from the crowd and be different. This is where his abundant creativity comes in handy.

The optimistic Aquarius is generous and friendly. He has countless friends yet he is unable to form many strong friendship bonds, as he remains emotionally detached and sometimes aloof. Having a fixed air sign makes him rather stubborn too especially if he strongly believes in his ideals and ideas. Although it is hard for Aquarius to change his beliefs, he would continue to embrace new ideas with an open mind. An intelligent and humane sign, all Aquarius ever wants is to make the world a better place to live in.
