In
Greek mythology, a golden winged ram with the
Golden Fleece had bravely rescued two sisters
Phrixus and Helle from being sacrificed to the
King of God, Zeus. As they flew over an ocean,
Helle unfortunately slipped off and drowned in
the waters below. Today, the place where she died
is known as the Hellespoint in North West Turkey.
The golden ram managed to safely escort Phrixus
to her homeland Colchis where she gave the Golden
Fleece to her father-in-law, the King of Colchis
and sacrificed the ram to Zeus. Touched by the
ram's courage, Zeus honoured the ram by placing
it in the celestial skies.
Like the symbol, Aries has great courage and spirit.
In fact, Aries is actually a Latin word for "ram".
Aggressive and fearless, Aries makes a great leader.
His knack for taking initiatives as well as his
powerful enthusiasm also enhances his potential
leadership qualities. Being a cardinal sign, Aries
is outgoing and domineering.
The fiery Planet Mars reflects the impulsiveness
and quick temper in Aries. Honest and blunt, Aries
has a tendency to talk before they think and thus
he may have unconsciously hurt or offend the people
around him. Aries has an insatiable ambition and
boundless self confidence. However, do not be
fooled by his Tough Guy image as a vulnerable
and sensitive soul lies beneath.
