SAFEGUARDING TUITION FEES
  • Fees paid prior to course commencement or with in the first seven days of a course are placed in a separate secure bank account.
  • In case of financial failure of the college students will rank as unsecured creditors.
  • Students have the protection of special insurance for partial repayment of fees should the College close unexpectedly prior to course completion.
  • Cross-crediting and RPL processes safeguard the recognition of modules already completed.
CREDIT TRANSFER TO ANOTHER COURSE

The college has approved arrangements with:

  • Massey University
The college course provides direct credits for modules completed towards Massey's Bachelor of Education degree.
  • Dunedin College of Education
Students may transfer to a course at the Dunedin College of Education on the basis of Recognition of Prior Learning for modules completed at our college.
  • Dip. N.N.E.B.
The controlling authority ( Council for Awards in Children's Care and Education ) maintains a record of all Modules passed for a period of seven years. This enables our students to transfer to a College validated to teach N.N.E.B.
  • National Nanny Certificate (N.Z.Q.A.)
Modules of the Certificate may be cross-credited towards the College Diploma of Teaching (E.C.E.) Entry to Year 2 will require the completion of special bridging modules.
INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS RE: REFUNDS

Administration fee is non refundable and is payable only once.

The enrolment process provides a refund of fees in full for students who choose to withdraw within the first seven days of course commencement.

Enrolment is confirmed by the College six weeks after course commencement. There is a pro rata refund ( based on the full year fee ) for students who withdraw at anytime up to that point.

There is no refund of fees after the six weeks confirmation of enrolment.

Should the College close unexpectedly due to financial reasons before the course is completed, the college carries insurance to provide each student with a pro rata refund of fees paid by the student based on the date of a course terminating. ( Modules already completed may be cross credited to another course as detailed above. )

COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE

The complaints procedure involves guidance, planning and support.

Any student who has an enquiry or complaint is free to lodge details with their assigned group tutor. Should the matter remain unresolved the assigned group tutor and student should approach the Course Director for assistance.

Should the matter remain unresolved, the Course Director will report to the principal who may also involve a counsellor in further discussion with the student to resolve the matter. A student may request the presence of an independent counsellor or mediator.

Students who appear to be in danger of failing for any reason are steadily counselled and supported to achieve higher standards. The process is initiated by students and tutors. The Course Director coordinates and monitors any contacts or programmes for improved performance.

Where there are extreme difficulties of professional or personal nature the student will meet with the College Principal. The principal may refer the student on to outside agencies for further counselling and assistance. Students are given every opportunity to improve performance and to meet required standards.
