49. Genkai's Strength
Shishiwakemaru first attacks with his sword, which sends out souls and causes a screeching sound that kills many in the crowd. This is the chorus of a thousand souls. Next Shishiwakemaru makes a cage around them. When he goes to attack Genkai easily blocks it because she has stolen some of his energy. She uses his spirit energy to fire two blasts on Shishiwakemaru, that�s all that�s needed to finish him off. Onji then rolls the dice for Team Urameshi. The dice says Kuwabara must fight. He comes out of the crowd to say that he�s returned.
50. Suzuka's Challenge
Onji is the last fighter for Team Uratogi. He rolls the dice for Team Urameshi, and Kuwabara is the lucky winner. Kuwabara pathetically tries to hit Onji, but fails every time. Finally, Onji uses a technique much like Shishiwakamaru's Cape of No Return. He also claims that he tailored the Steaming Spheres, the Idunn Box, the Cape of No Return, and the Banshee Shriek. He throws the dimensional portal at Kuwabara and he returns to the rounds 1-3 ring. Juri (the referee) declares Onji the winner. Onji rolls for the Urameshi team again. This time it's Genkai's turn. Before the fight starts, Onji makes a joke about this being, "the battle of the elderly," and Genkai says he's no elder. He smiles, and tears off his face, which is really a mask, and Suzuka is revealed. Suzuka says he only used the others so he could enter the tournament. He then blasts the audience because a member didn't call him Beautiful Suzuka, as he demands to be addressed. He then blasts Genkai into the wall, and it looks like she's finished, but she runs fast undetected, and pulls off his clown nose. Genkai says he's not a fighter, and starts doing a boxing fighting pose dance. Suzuka gets mad, and says he won't use Spirit Energy if she won't. Genkai slugs him a few times and she wins the match.
51. Arch-Rivals
As Team Toguro is about to fight Team Gorenja, Team Toguro is missing Toguro. The Elder Toguro brother says that the younger Toguro has more important business. The match against Team Toguro and Team Gorenja will be three to five. Meanwhile at the hotel Yusuke is still sleeping while Kuwabara and Genkai are watching him. Then Genkai leaves and tells Kuwabara to tell Yusuke not to follow her. Meanwhile at the stadium the first match is Karasu versus Mido Renja. First Mido Renja shoots a ball of acid at Karasu but he easily dodges it. Then he shoots another acid ball at Karasu but he dodges it and jumps and touches Mido Renja. Then his arms blows up. Karasu keeps doing this until Mido Renja dies. The next match is Bui versus Kirenja. Bui easily wins by slashing Kirenja into tiny bits with his giant axe. Then next match is Elder Toguro versus the rest of the people on Team Gorenja. Elder Toguro wins by putting sharp things from his body into the other fighters. Meanwhile Genkai is face to face is Toguro. After the match Kurama encounters Bui and Karasu. Karasu tells Kurama that one of his teammates will die today. Kurama says he cannot win this way. Meanwhile Toguro and Genkai are about to fight. Yusuke then wakes up and, seeing Genkai gone, rushes out of the hotel while Toguro and Genkai charge at each other.
52. The Death of Genkai
The episode opens with a shot of Toguro and Genkai, facing each other. Genkai asks Toguro why he invited her to the Dark Tournament, and Toguro replies that he wanted her to see the truth about the cruelty of time. The next scene is of Kuwabara's trying to find Yusuke. He encounters his sister, Botan, Keiko, and Yukina, and asks whether they had seen Yusuke. Immediately thereafter, we see a shot of Yusuke, running through a forest. He senses Toguro's power. The episode cuts back to Genkai and Toguro. Genkai confirms that she has passed the Spirit Wave onto Yusuke, and Toguro says that because of that, there is no further need for Genkai. He plans to kill her. Next is a flashback of Toguro and Genkai's younger days. It shows their defeating a team of demons rather effortlessly, and then their conversation in a boat. Toguro reveals that he is not scared of the fact that stronger opponent's will challenge them, but rather that they will come when he is too old and weak to fight. He tells Genkai that his greatest desire is a neveraging body. He transforms to 45% of his total power, and charges at Genkai, who holds her ground, remembering that she only has enough energy to fire 3 more blasts of the Spirit Gun. She charges as well, jumping into the air and crashing into Toguro, firing a blast into his arm. Toguro makes a grab, which Genkai narrowly avoids. She flies backward and lands, panting. Toguro drops a bloody piece of Genkai's tunic to the ground and reveals that he was trying to rip her heart out. He then says that 45% of his power is insulting to Genkai; he's going to let her see 80% of his strength. Hiei, Kurama, and Kuwabara all sense the energy, wondering what could be causing it. Toguro tells Genkai that she is the fourth person to ever see him use that much power, but that she won't count for long. He fires an energy blast, which Genkai dodges. Toguro charges forward and punches the ground, creating an enormous crater (Genkai leapt into the air just in time). She lands on a stray rock that was thrown up by Toguro's punch, and fires another Rei-Gan. Toguro catches the blast with one arm and holds it back until it dissipates. Genkai lands, shocked. Toguro asks if that's the best Genkai can do, and he then says he should have killed her back when she was at full power, at the tournament. Toguro says that the person he is facing is not Genkai at all, but rather just a body of skin and bones. Genkai replies that she is indeed Genkai, and asks Toguro whether he thinks he can really kill her. Toguro says he doesn't know, but he'll try. Toguro starts running for Genkai, and she realizes that Toguro's power is completely different from the way it once was. She says that she is not scared to die, but she wants to make Toguro remember who he once was before she goes. As she says these things, she transforms back into her younger state, and she fires one final Rei-Gan with all her strength. Toguro punches straight through it...and Genkai. Yusuke arrives at the scene to see his mentor, dying. He runs over to her and says that Kurama will heal her. She says it is too late for her, and she warns Yusuke not to do what Toguro did: forsaking friends for power. She remembers how she was invited to the tournament and refused (though you can't refuse, she had won the tournament many years ago, and the wish she asked for was to never be invited again). The messengers told her that Yusuke will be participating, however, so she changed her mind. Back in the present, she dies. Toguro says that if Yusuke had been born earlier, the whole thing could have been averted. He also says that Genkai chose the wrong path in life, the path that leads to death as opposed to power. Yusuke warns Toguro to shut up. Toguro says that Genkai is just a decaying dog. This sets Yusuke off, and Yusuke charges Toguro, blind with rage. He punches him, but Toguro catches the punch. However it throws him off balance. Toguro counters, though, and punches Yusuke in the face, sending him flying through many trees until he finally lands against a stronger one. Toguro says that was a good punch, looking at his hand (which is badly injured) and is happy that he will get to use 100% of his power in a fight with Yusuke. Yusuke reminisces about his training with Genkai, and then sees a vision of her, a vision that tells him not to lose. He stands up and punches the tree until it collapses, and he vows not to forgive Toguro.
53. Overcoming Grief
Yusuke gets up after his blow from Toguro, and greaves over the loss of his teacher Genkai who was killed by Toguro. Yusuke mourns the death and wishes that he has gotten their sooner to help. Koenma comes over to give Yusuke some closure to the situation by telling him there was nothing he could have ever done to stop the inevitable. Yusuke finally goes on and shoots a spirit gun into the air, showing off his new found strength. Kurama and Kuwabara both meet Suzuka who give them the same Magical Items that helped power up his team in the semi finals. Suzuka who was humiliated by Toguro in an earlier tournament wants that prove that innovation and skill can beat brute force. Hiei gains full control over the Dragon of the immortal flame for the bought ahead. All the fighters seeming to be at their prime get ready for the final match ahead.
54. The Beginning of the End
The two teams set out to the ring to get out the final match. Yusuke's team vs. Team Toguro. While both teams set out, the ring referee Juri sees that both teams are missing a fighter, and orders that a substitute come in or both teams are disqualified. Team Toguro shocks the crowd by having their sponsor, Sakyo join in as their 5th fighter. Time Passes by as Yusuke's team is about to get disqualified, Koenma, in a favor to both Genkai and Yusuke, steps in as the 5th member (in his teenage form) with both teams ready to fight, Kurama steps in for the first fight against Karasu.
55. The Beast Within
The episode starts out with the ref saying that it is the final match. All the monsters in the audience cheers for the Toguro Team, and the ref states that everyone is cheering for the Toguro Team. Keiko jumps up and yells there are people (Her, Botan, Shizuru, Yukina and Orge) cheering for the Urameshi Team. The match is about to begin, but Kuwabara asks Kurama if he has drank the potion that Suzuka gave him that would transform him into Yoko form. Kurama says yes, but it has a 15-minute limit. Kurama also says that it is enough to kill Karasu. Botan gets a bit depressed because Genkai has died. Shizuru goes and cheers her up. The match begins with Kurama vs. Karasu. Karasu asks Kurama if he is going to face him in his human form and Kurama says he has changed. Kurama summons a lot of rose petals around him. Kurama wants to stall time so he can change to Yoko. The petals swirl around Kurama and Kurama says they are as sharp as blades. Karasu just walks forward and gets cut, but he says it�s very beautiful, but very weak. Karasu blows them up without touching them. Yusuke gets worried. Karasu says that Kurama cannot see what happened because he cannot see his enery attack. He states that there is a difference of enery between Kurama and himself. Kurama jumps up into the air and summons his Rose Whip but Karasu blows it up. Karasu begins assaulting Kurama with his claws. Kasaru jumps up into the air and claws down. Kurama dodges it but he gets damaged by something that exploded. Kurama runs but again he gets damaged by the invisible explosive once again. Kasaru gives him a hint that he can produce something just like how he can produce plants. He states that he has the weapon in his hand right now. He shows him what he can control and a bomb appears. He throws it at Kurama and it explodes. No one can see what happened because there�s smoke all over. Karasu dodges the explosion and a rose appears stuck in his hand, but he pulls it right off. The smoke starts becoming blue. Large amounts of energy is emitting from the core of the mist. Yoko Kurama appears. Yoko Kurama says he wants to kill him. Karusa produces a more bombs that look like flying apples. Yoko just throws roses at them and they explode.
56. Yoko's Magic
This episode begins with Karasu vs. Yoko. Karasu uses some bat-like bombs that hone on the enemy. When the bat things are about to hit Yoko, he uses his aura to destroy them all. When the smoke finally clears there are plants all around Yoko. The plants are called Mimosa and seek out moving and heat producing targets. The leaves of the plant open to reveal many teeth. The Mimosa plants charge at Karasu and he dodges them all. Then as Karasu is running, two more come out of the ground. Karasu runs and jumps up as they gather around him. Then Karasu creates a grenade and throws it at one which goes up in flames. Then the Mimosa start to shoot beams from there heads at Karasu. As Karasu runs he creates another grenade and blows up another. Yoko tells Karasu they have feelings and it is not good to anger them. Three Mimosa plants charge at him as one catches him and takes him to the air. Then Karasu's mask comes off. Then the other Mimosa's clamber on the first one and Karasu is completely covered by them. Then Yoko is declared the winner but the Mimosa suddenly explode. Karasu comes out completely unharmed and without his mask. Then Karasu breathes in some air and his hair turns gold. Hiei explains to the rest of the team that he is like a huge bomb and his hands are the detonator. Then Karasu holds his hands together and lightning appears. Karasu jumps up then dives straight down at Yoko and when he hits, a huge explosion commences and about 1/4 of the entire tournament area is destroyed and lots of people go flying. Then out of some rocks, Kurama appears. Kurama jumps out and onto the stadium and charges at Karasu. Then they do some martial arts for a while. After a little Kurama finally hits Karasu. Then Karasu takes something out of his chest and reveals it is the Death Seed that Kurama was trying to put in him. Kurama steps back and something clutches his leg. Karasu says it is called the Maddi Bomb. Then the bomb explodes and Kurama goes flying. The bomb's explosion made a hole in his leg all the way to the bone. Then when Kurama gets up he is surrounded by little lights. Then Karasu walks forward and directs one of the lights to Kurama which explodes and Kurama steps back and hits another and another until most of them were gone. Then Kurama falls dripping blood. Karasu says he won't scar his face as Kurama gets back up. Then he thinks if he could get the blood sucking plant to Karasu's heart, he will win the match but he would have to give his life. Then Karasu moves the other light to Kurama which explode as Kurama falls covered in blood. Then Juri starts to count. After about 7 Karasu says there is no need and unleashes a blast at Kurama. In retaliation Kurama unleashes the bloodsucking plant which appears from nowhere behind him. The plant pierces Karasu's heart and drains his blood killing him. Kurama is still down and Karasu falls as the plant covers him. Then as they lay motionless, Kurama wakes up. He wonders how he is alive and why is spirit energy is coming back. He figures it is because of the potion Suzuka gave him, and that every time more of Yoko remains with him.
57. Beneath Bui's Armor
This episode begins with Kurama in the ring and a giant flower on the opposite side. Kurama is declared victor by the announcer girl and Yusuke and Kuwabara. Yusuke goes in to help Kurama. When he reaches him Kurama apologizes for not defeating Karasu. Yusuke was wondering what he meant as Juri declares Karasu as the winner. Everybody was wondering what she meant since Karasu was dead. Yusuke confronts Juri and argues why Kurama lost. She says because of a 10 seconds countdown. Then there is a lot of noise in the crowd and they show a replay of the match. Then the video shows Kurama when he was down and that he attacked while in the down position past 10 counts. Then the crowd starts cheering as Hiei moves forward. He tells Toguro's Team his wish. The wish is the death of the organizers of the Dark Tournament. Toguro tells him that he killed them long before. Elder Toguro steps onto the ring and asks who would be the first to die. Bui steps forward and says he wants to fight instead of Elder Toguro. Hiei steps forward to fight Bui. So Bui and Hiei enter the center of the ring and the round begins. Bui creates a huge axe out of thin air. Hiei takes off his cloak and the team recognizes his right arm is bandaged heavily. Kurama tells him it is a form of Jyu Tai Hou which is a method of bandaging to conceal your power. Then Bui charges at Hiei and jumps up and throws the axe at Hiei. Hiei dodges it with ease. When Bui picked up the axe, a block of the stadium was on it and throws the block at Hiei who dodges it. Bui continues this for a while. Then Hiei uses the Fist of the Mortal Flame which makes his hand like a fireball and punches through the bricks. Then after punching through one of the bricks, Bui comes from the air to slash at Hiei who blocks it with his fist. He punches it so hard the blade goes flying. Then Bui creates a new axe from thin air again. He throws it at Hiei who catches it and disintegrates it. Then Bui tells Hiei he is one that he needs to take his armor off. Bui takes off his armor and says he wears it to suppress his power. Then his Spirit Energy rises and he levitates because of his aura. He asks Hiei to show him his true strength and Hiei does. He charges at Bui and kicks him. Then Hiei lands and fires a blast that puts Bui on fire but easily gets rid of it and fires a blast back at Hiei who uses another blast to cancel it. Then Bui uses the Aura Blast Gross Attack and fires it at Hiei who dodges it but it still follows him. Then he goes in front of Bui and disappears so the blast hits Bui instead. Bui goes pummeling into the stage and gets up quite easily. Then he tells Hiei to really use full power and wants to see the Dragon of the Darkness Flame. Hiei says he will regret it. Hiei takes off the bandages and his aura become huge.
58. Wielder of the Dragon
This episode begins with Bui and Hiei in the ring. Bui has his armor off so he looks like a guy with a mark on his face. Anyway he wants to see Hiei's Dragon of the Darkness Flame attack. Hiei removes his bandages from his arm that conceal his power and his power erupts throughout the stadium. Sakyo asks Toguro the last time he used it and there is a flashback of Hiei defeating Zeru. Then dark energies come out of the sky into the stadium. Then Hiei charges at Bui and releases the Dragon of the Darkness Flame. When the dragon hits Bui he tries to hold it back and succeeds. Then Hiei throws what seems to be another Dragon of the Darkness Flame doubling its power. Bui still holds it but goes around in different directions trying to hold it back. Then as he continues trying to hold it the dragon takes him out of the stadium and crashing into things on the island. Then Bui's mark on his head starts bleeding and there is a flashback of Toguro against Bui and he punched Bui so hard it made the mark and blood was coming out. Then the blood went back in the mark. Bui manages to control the Dragon and sends it back to Hiei. Now Hiei is trying to hold it back as he goes flying around the island. Then Bui returns to the island saying he succeeded in stopping the Dragon of the Darkness Flame. Then as he was about to be claimed victor the remaining of the Dragon started exploding and Hiei's figure (without the scars on his hand) was inside it as he returns to the ground. Then Bui backs away from Hiei a little as Kurama explains to Yusuke what happened and that he absorbed the Dragon making it the secret of the dragon. Then Bui and Hiei talk a little and Bui jumps in the air and punches Hiei in the face. Hiei acts like he didn't feel it and Bui continuously punches him in the face and starts kicking him as well. Then Bui throws him up and kicks him to hit the top of the stadium. Then throws him to the stadium floor. Then as Bui charges at Hiei again he throws a small beam at him that send Bui flying. Then he jumps and uses some of the power of the dragon in a punch that sends Bui straight down into the crowd. As they are both out Juri starts counting. Then Bui asks Hiei to kill him and Hiei refuses. Then Hiei jumps into the stadium and wins by a ring-out. The score is 1 to 1. Then Hiei jumps out and Hiei tells them the disadvantage to absorbing the dragon is he has to hibernate for a few hours, and falls asleep but not before threatening Yusuke and Kuwabara that he will kill them if they lose.
59. The Shadow of Elder Toguro
This episode begins with the stadium basically destroyed because of Hiei's Dragon of the Darkness Flame. So the next fight waits a while. A while meaning like 6 hours. Hiei finally wakes up wondering what is going on and Kurama tells him about the ring dilemma. Kuwabara keeps asking Yusuke where Genkai is as Yusuke won't answer. After 6 hours the next fight begins. Kuwabara versus Elder Toguro. The fight begins with Kuwabara using the Soul Sword (the sword Suzuka gave him) to slash Elder Toguro. Kuwabara was about to be crowned victor as he is stabbed by 5 spears in his arms above his heart and a few other places. Behind him Elder Toguro stands laughing. The spears were actually his fingers and the other Elder Toguro was his other hand. He explains to Kuwabara that his really body travelled under the ring to the other side and tricked him. Then Elder Toguro takes his hand and takes the Soul Sword off the ground. Then he asks if it is the remains of Genkai. Kuwabara gets a shocked look because he didn't know Genkai was dead. Elder Toguro tells him she is dead and Kuwabara gets another shocked look and glances at Yusuke. He gets angry at how everyone else knew she was dead. Then Elder Toguro stabs Kuwabara again and he falls to the floor. Then he looks up as Elder Toguro takes his hand and turns it into the image of the young Genkai. Then he tells Kuwabara a story of how there used to be a young boy and girl and the girl named Genkai, a most beautiful girl in the world, and the boy named Toguro. Both of them became friends for the aim of learning the highest martial arts. But after a long period of time the girl became old and faded. As the boy stayed young and strong in the learning of martial arts by the power of the demon world. The old woman was jealous about the youth of the young man and to fight the man for a due fight. The old woman died and Elder Toguro stabs the Genkai image with his other hand. Kuwabara and the rest of the team get pissed at the lie. Then Yusuke yells back that Younger Toguro was jealous because he couldn't have her. Kuwabara gets angry and his Spirit Energy rises as he swears he will cut Elder Toguro into a thousand pieces. Then Elder Toguro takes out the Soul Sword from his pocket and says he could not kill him with the Soul Sword only. Then he swirls his fingers into a drill and tries to stab Kuwabara in the heart. But Kuwabara's Spirit Energy keeps it from going in. Elder Toguro is puzzled why the drill did not go in. Then Kuwabara says only he could not forgive and unleashes hundreds of Spirit swords at Elder Toguro. Elder Toguro lays on the floor motionless and covered in blood. Then Juri starts counting. Kuwabara walks away when Juri stops counting and Elder Toguro says it is pointless and his organs attach to each other. Then his whole body was together again and says the only way to kill him is to hit his heart and brain and says he can move his internal organs freely so he wouldn't know where they are. Then he stabs Kuwabara with his fingers again.
60. Sakyo's Proposal
This episode begins with Kuwabara fighting Elder Toguro with Elder Toguro's fingers stabbing Kuwabara near his heart. He throws Kuwabara onto the floor and starts yapping about how if he moves he might move his fingers into his viscous or something like that. Anyway, Juri starts counting and Elder Toguro says he'll chop Kuwabara's head of before she hits 10. He changes his other hand into a blade while Kuwabara spots the Soul Sword Suzuka gave him a few episodes back. Anyway Juri counts to 9 and Elder Toguro tries to chop off his head. Then Kuwabara uses his Spirit Sword and extends it to get the Soul Sword to him. Elder Toguro cancels his attack and they both get up. Then Kuwabara uses the sword to cut up Elder Toguro who falls to the ground chopped up. Elder Toguro reattaches his organs so he is basically unharmed. He stands up then Kuwabara's Soul Sword changes shape into a huge frying pan shape and he smashes Elder Toguro with it. Kuwabara wins the fight. He walks over to Yusuke and punches him in the face for not telling him about Genkai's death. Anyway the next fight Toguro vs. Yusuke was about to start when Sakyo stepped in and asked the committee and Team Urameshi for a bet. The bet is if Yusuke beats Toguro he would kill himself and if Toguro beats Yusuke, Koenma would have to kill himself. The committee says give them 10 minutes to decide. Anyway Sakyo and Toguro walk off as Sakyo tells Toguro of his life and past as Shizuru spies on them. Anyway the committee and Koenma agree. Toguro and Yusuke step into the ring as the ground starts shaking and Elder Toguro comes out of the ground. He asks Toguro if he could be a weapon. He starts yapping about which weapon he should be as Toguro comes behind him and kicks him. Then as he's flying he comes back down with an aerial attack and Toguro punches him and kills him.
