37. Master of Disguise
Now Team Urameshi must face Team Masho even though they just finished fighting Team Ichigaki. Genkai, Yusuke, and Kuwabara are all tired. Kuwabara is left badly injured and can barely move. Before the fight a nurse comes to check on Genkai and Hiei, but then traps them in her tent and doesn�t allow them to fight. The first fight is Kurama against Gama. To start the fight Gama puts on some makeup to make him stronger. Gama attacks at Kurama with the makeup. Kurama is able to dodge it but gets some smeared on his arm. Gama explains that the makeup causes weight on him, slowing him down. After a few more swipes Gama has them on Kurama�s arms and legs, which keeps him from moving at all.
38. Kurama's Stand
When Gama goes to attack Kurama uses his rose whip through his hair. He slices Gama, but his blood smears on Kurama. Gama then explains that his makeup is made using his blood and on an opponent it seals their spirit energy inside them. Kurama must then face Touya. Touya immediately makes a blanket of ice through the whole arena. Kurama tries to stall Touya by talking to him. Touya explains that they want to win the tournament to get a new home. Touya stops the conversation and attacks. He uses his Shards of Winter attack from afar. Right when they�re about to hit Kurama the chains of makeup wear off. He narrowly dodges being killed by them. Kurama then continues to dodge these attacks, until he notices that his blood is starting to smear the makeup. Kurama then starts letting some of the shards hit him, but makes sure not to let any hit him near a vital area. At this point Touya decides he needs to finish the fight. Touya makes an Ice Sword on his arm and goes to attack Kurama. Kurama stumbles giving Touya a chance to go for the kill. Kurama then attacks him with a plant he put into his body. This defeats Touya, but it also knocks him unconscious. The tournament committee decides that because Kurama is still in the ring he still wants to keep fighting even though he is unconcious. Yusuke argues to no avail. The next fighter, Bakken, immediately begins to pummel Kurama. Yusuke tells him to just let him fall, but he refuses to finish the fight.
39. Crushing Revenge
Bakken, still pummeling Kurama, decides to finish him off. Right when he�s going to punch Kurama his partner, Jin, tells him to stop. He explains that had he hit Kurama he would�ve been killed too. In the background Yusuke is ready to shoot a Spirit Gun right at him. Bakken throws Kurama out of the ring to finally end the fight. Yusuke immediately jumps into the ring. Bakken hits him a few times, but then Yusuke just laughs at the attack. Then Bakken starts to sweat this fills the whole arena and causes a fog, which doesn�t allow Yusuke to see. Bakken begins to attack him. Yusuke outsmarts him by shooting a Spirit Gun into the wall to break a hole for the fog to escape through. He then begins to take revenge for Kurama. He gives Bakken a chance to beg for forgiveness, but he attacks Yusuke instead. Yusuke ends the match by hitting him into the wall. Next up is Jin. He walks in and begins to joke with Yusuke. Yusuke can�t believe he found a friend in a person he has to fight. Jin then flies into the sky, to enjoy the view of the area. After a moment they call Jin down to finally start the fight.
40. Jin, the Wind Master
Jin comes down to start the fight. Jin attacks Yuske with a Tornado Fist, but Yuske dodges it. When he dodges it, it still is able to blow him away into the wall. He has to quickly run again because Jin goes to attack again. After dodging Jin�s attacks he finally lands a hit on him. He�s able to hit Jin for a while, but then Jin flies off into the sky to recover. While he is resting Yuske shoots a Spirit Gun at him. Jin uses the wind around him to block the attack. Jin then goes back on the offensive with another Tornado Fist. He goes straight at Yusuke. Yusuke then shoots a Spirit Gun at point blank range. There is a big explosion and the whole crowd thinks both are dead. They then find Yusuke on the ground and Jin in the sky. Hiei explains that Jin saw it and turned his Tornado Fist upward, which kept them both from being killed. Jin stays in the sky and gets a Double Tornado Fist ready.
41. Reverse Directions
Jin comes at Yusuke with his Double Tornado Fist. Yusuke decides that his only choice is to use the new move he hasn't actually learned. Yusuke blocks one fist with an arm and the other fist with a leg. With his remaining arm he hits Jin with a Spirit Wave. This attack had him concentrate all of his spirit energy into his fist. After the fight the committee decides that Yusuke also lost. They say that the counting was too slow so the catch is called a draw. This leaves Kuwabara and Kurama as the only eligible fighters. But with Kurama barely conscious and Kuwabara barely able to move there isn�t much hope. Hiei and Yusuke decide it�s time to cheat. Hiei has recovered all his energy from the power barrier keeping him and Genkai in the tent. Kuwabara then stands up and says he will fight. He still hasn�t recovered and shows little chance of putting up a fight against Team Masho�s leader. But since he is there only hope, they let him fight. Meanwhile Botan and Keiko find Yukina outside. She is there searching for her brother.
42. A Matter of Love and Death
Kuwabara starts off by trying to get his Spirit Sword, but he can�t. Rishou then starts attacking him. Outside Shizuru, Keiko, Botan and Yukina are trying to get in. A security guard tells them that their tickets are now void. Shizuru takes it into her own hands and forces her way in. In the arena Kuwabara is getting beat up by Rishou. Rishou then charges up. Rocks form all over his body. He then continues the attack on Kuwabara. Meanwhile the girls are trapped by security. Yukina gets scared and runs to the arena. Sakyo comes and helps the rest of them. Kuwabara telepathically starts saying his good-byes. After getting hit again he remembers Yukina. He desperately hopes for a chance to say farewell to her, when he suddenly spots her in the stands. He pushes Rishou away and runs to Yukina. When Rishou goes to attack him he has a new found strength and is able to use his Spirit Sword. With one strike he finishes off Risho. He makes it back to the ring just before the ten count. After the fight Yukina heals Kuwabara. He tells her that he won the match because of her, but she thinks he�s joking. A little ways away Yusuke and Keiko start arguing and actually show affection for each other, while Botan watches and laughs.
43. The Masked Fighter Revealed
After Yusuke and Keiko are done talking to each other, Botan tells Yusuke that his egg is about to hatch. Then Koenma appears behind them and startles them. Yusuke's egg has gotten bigger over the year. Then the egg hatches. At first they don't see the Spirit Beast until it goes on Yusuke's head. The Spirit Beast is a small blue bird with long ears. Koenma and Botan start to taunt Yusuke. Yusuke hits Botan on the head. When the others get to see it they all laugh. Kuwabara is the only one to taunt Yusuke. Yusuke hits Kuwabara on the head. Then they all leave. The next morning Team Uraotogi beats Team Gokki easily. They are going to fight Yusuke's team tomorrow. Then they see Toguro's team. Then Yusuke's team gets a look at who they fight. Then the Masked Fighter starts to give Yusuke a lecture. Yusuke begins to fight with the Masked Fighter and she tells Yusuke to go outside with her. Then the Masked Fighter calls Yusuke a dimwit and she sounds like Genkai. Then the Masked Fighter shows herself to be Genkai. Then she tells Yusuke to shoot a rock. Then Genkai shoots a rock that is like a mountain and in the process Genkai turns into her young self. Then she tells Yusuke that he is going to have one last test.
44. Yusuke's Final Test
Genkai tells Yusuke that his test is to kill her. Yusuke starts to question Genkai. Genkai tells Yusuke that she will meet him at a cave. When Yusuke is about to go inside the cave, Yusuke starts to think about what Genkai did for him. Meanwhile Kurama and Kuwabara are playing cards. Then Botan, Yukina, Keiko, and Shizuru walk in the room. Keiko asks Kurama where Yusuke is since Puu (the Spirit Beast) is acting funny. Then they all play cards expect Hiei. Meanwhile Yusuke tells Genkai that he can not kill her. Genkai starts to giggle because she is still giving Yusuke the test since Genkai said that she would not give her power to someone who would kill her for more power. Then Genkai explains the test to Yusuke and shows him the source of her power the Spirit Wave Orb. Yusuke has to absorb it but it could also kill him. When Yusuke puts it in his body he starts to have cuts and starts to bleed. Meanwhile everyone else is getting ready for the semi-finals. There is also one new referee. Her name is Juri. Koto has been moved to a broadcasting booth. Koenma and Blue Ogre complain that the new stadium is bad. Yusuke's team is outnumbered since Yusuke and Genkai are not there. Meanwhile Yusuke is struggling on Genkai's test. Then the two teams decide how the pairings will be by rolling dice. Hiei is fighting first against Makintaro. Hiei beats Makintaro easily by putting his sword through his skull.
45. Hiei Battles On
The next people fighting are Kuro Momotaro and any one else on Yusuke's team. Meanwhile Yusuke is still struggling with Genkai's test. Genkai tries to take the orb back since Yusuke is about to die. Just as Genkai is about to put the orb back in her body, Yusuke yells at her and takes it back and starts to bleed more. Then Keiko, Botan, Shizuru, and Yukina wake up. Meanwhile at the stadium Hiei says that he is going to fight again. Kuro Momotaro makes sure that Hiei can't use the Dragon of the Darkness Flame by asking Onji. He says that Hiei can not use it since his arm has not fully recovered. Then Hiei and Kuro Momotaro start the fight. Kuro Momotaro slices himself with Hiei's sword. Then Kuro eats one of his Steaming Spheres and starts to grow hair all over his body so that he can have the Armor of the Ape. Hiei tries to slash Kuro with his sword but his sword breaks. Hiei then charges at Kuro but Kuro appears behind him and tries to hit him but Hiei dodges the hits. Eventually Hiei gets hit and falls out of the ring. Kuro then explains why he was able to fend off Hiei's attacks. Meanwhile the girls are getting out of the hotel and then Keiko remembers that she left Puu in the hotel. Then Keiko gets Puu. Meanwhile at the stadium Hiei takes off his bandana and reveals his jagan eye so that he can do the Dragon of the Darkness Flame but he doesn't have enough spirit energy to do it and he'll be killed. Then Hiei charges at Kuro. Instead of doing the move that could kill him he does Fist of the Mortal Flame and punches Kuro with it. Kuro still survived the attack and takes one of his Steaming Spheres. Then he has the Armor of the Phoenix.
46. Many Faces, Many Forms
Kuro has just used his second beast armor, the Armor of the Phoenix. When he attacks Hiei, Hiei uses the Double Fist of the Mortal Flame on him. Kuro looks injured, but is just faking. He then attacks Hiei. When Hiei gets up he uses the third beast armor, the Armor of the Wolf. Meanwhile Yusuke is rolling around on the floor. Genkai is blaming herself for thinking that he was ready for the Spirit Wave. Kuro attacks Hiei with two slashes and catches him in the chest with one of them. Hiei then picks up his broken sword. Kuro runs at him and tries to sink his teeth into him. Hiei uses his broken sword and does the Sword of the Darkness Flame straight through him. Kuro is dead before he can bite Hiei. Kurama explains that Hiei put his Darkness Flame into the sword instead of unleashing it with his arm. Then when they roll the dice Kurama is next. He is tricked by Uraurashima and decides to help him fake death. Kurama is then tied up and the whole arena is surrounded by fishing lines. Uraurashima releases a special smoke which makes the opponent turn younger, but it backfires and Kurama turns into Yoko.
47. Legendary Bandit: Yoko Kurama
At the start Yoko forms his Death Plant. He makes Uraurashima talk about the special weapons they were given. Right when he�s getting to the important part, Shishiwakemaru throws his sword and kills him. The smoke then clears the arena and when everyone looks only Yoko is left standing. Seconds later he turns back into Kurama. Meanwhile Yusuke is still suffering with the spirit wave. When he�s there Puu comes and tries to give him water. Puu is also suffering all the pain Yusuke is. When Puu is about to be killed by a falling boulder Yusuke saves him. He finally has control of the spirit wave. He walks out of the cave to the shock of Genkai. He then collapses with exhaustion.
48. The Cape of No Return
The dice rolls decides that Shishiwakemaru fights whoever Team Urameshi chooses. They then play rock, paper, scissors. Kuwabara wins and must fight Shishiwakemaru. Shishiwakemaru flips his cape of no return and Kuwabara is gone. He finds Keiko, Yukina, Botan, and his sister and begins walking back to the stadium. Then Team Uraotogi's leader rolls the dice and it says the masked fighter must fight. Hiei decides to take her place since she isn't there, but when he is about to she appears. Then Hiei says that that isn't her because she is now much weaker. Kurama says it smells like her, just older.
Shishiwakemaru immediately cuts her mask and proves that there is an imposter. The tournament committee investigates and decides that there is no cheating. Toguro than explains that both people are Genkai, just now is much weaker. He explains that she had given away her powers. Shishiwakemaru decides that this is his chance to get his name known.
