World Cafe Live - 8/24/07

I took in the Beta Hi-Fi music festival at World Cafe Live. I had never seen local groups downstairs and it was quite an interesting experience. Cameras are not normally allowed there but since the groups were local, plenty of fans were flashing away. A feature of the festival is a DJ hosting and spinning between sets getting the crowd on their feet and keeping them warmed up. The group introduced their backing singer Valerie; she came in bit late a few times with her harmony vocals but I think she was just nervous. After the set I was saddened to find out that Cisco will soon be leaving the group. Taragirl was next, backed this time by two singers instead of three. I had last seen her in November. Burndown Allstars performed next with their multiracial band members and multiple M.C.'s.
