| THE
HOSPITALS WERE SENT TO DAN BURKE (VICE VERSA?) |
| Holy
Fucking gossip and drama! Here the basic scoop [sic]:
During a Tuesday night (Band of the Month) at the Silver
Dollar, the Vulcan Dub Squad played a set (and went on
too long maybe?) and The Hospitals, who went on after
were a little pissed (maybe?). And then Dan Burke got
angry because they started playing on the floor (maybe?).
Or The Hospitals were just setting up and weren't really
playing (maybe?). This story can end the same way the
movie Clue ended, with three different versions.
Slap on which ending you'd like. Punches were thrown,
guitars were smashed and drums were tossed around. I've
said it before and I'll say it again, Dan Burke, love
him or hate him, always brings controversy and entertainment.
A great combo. |

I agree that the events of the
show were confusing (to say the least) but definately not
as free-for-all as Himmelfarb makes it sound. Sady there is
no mention of the fact that Vulcan Dub Squad should not have
been on this bill at all. Their music was all wrong for a
band on directly before the Hospitals, they were a complete
bring down (I don't know if this actually does make Burke
a good promoter as much as someone who is unaware of the styles
of the bands he's bringing together. When I arrived and told
him I was there only to see the Hospitals he started asking
me where they were as if I set up the gig and not him). If
VDS did not actually play longer than their alloted time then
I feel bad for them as it sure seemed to go on way, way too
long (not an effect you want to have on your audience).
Enjoy,
Paul
