Other than application
for entry for the purpose of tourist social or
business visits, all applications for other types of
passes mentioned below must be made before arrival in
the country. All applications must have sponsorship in Malaysia.
The sponsors must agree to be responsible for the maintenance and
repatriation of the visitors from Malaysia if it should become
necessary.
Foreign nationals who wish to visit Malaysia have to
obtain a pass at the point of entry besides a visa (where
required) which allows them to stay temporarily. A pass is an
endorsement in the passport constituting permission to stay for
the approved duration.

2. Exemptions
1. Foreign workers holding Visit Pass (Temporary Employment) in
paddy field and sugarcane plantation in Kedah, kelantan, Perlis and
Perak.
2. Malaysia citizen and permanent resident holding Red Identity
Card under National Registration Regulation 1960 or National
Registration (Sarawak) Regulation 1966 or National Registration
(Sabah) Regulation 1972 or Red Identity Card under National
Registration Regulation 1990 who have been issued Visit Passes
(Temporary Employment) in the states of Sabah and Sarawak)

Representative office abroad together with Student Pass

For countries that have no Malaysian Representative office
abroad, the applicant may enter Malaysia on Social Visititation
Pass at the entry point and then apply for extension to
the State Immigration office where the educational institution
is located within one month from the date of entry.

(Immigration Headquarters) through a local sponsor, i.e. the
employer together with the application for Temporary Employment

Temporary Employment Visitation Pass
Conditions for issuing Temporary Employment Visitation Pass
1. The foreign worker to be employed must remain outside Malaysia
while the application is being processed. He or she will only be permitted
to enter the country once Temporary Employment Visitation Pass at the
Immigration Office is issued.
2. Workers must not be classified as persons prohibited to enter according
to Section 8 (3) Immigration Act 1959/63.
3. The worker must be healthy and free from any dangerous or contagious
diseases.
4. Processing a passport or travel Document with a validity of not less
than 12 months from the date the pass is approved.
5. The worker must be within the age of 18 years to 45 years for other
sectors. For a domestic helper, the age must be within 25 years to 45 years.
6. The worker is required to carry out a medical examination before
entering the country using the format issued by the Immigration Department
and must be carried out at FOMEMA or a local private clinic registered
with the Ministry Of Health.
7. The worker must abide by the country's laws and regulations in force.
8. The worker is not allowed to bring his family to reside in the country.
9. The worker is not allowed to change employment sector and employer
without the approval of the Immigration Department.
10. The worker is permitted only to stay in the country until the date
stated in the Temporary Employment Visitatoin Pass. However, if an extension
of the validity period is required, an application must be made at least three
months before the expiry date of the pass.
11. The employer is fully responsible for all aspects relating to payment of
visa, pass, levy and production of Bank Guarantee by the worker to the
Immigration Department.
12. The employer's (for domestic helper) monthly income must be at least
RM 3,000.00 to qualify for employing Indonesian and Thailand domestic
helper, while the minimum income of RM 10,000.00 to qualify for employing
Filipino domestic helper.
13. Deposit can only be refunded if the employer or sponsor has submitted
proof that the worker has left the country or has been released to another
employer with the approval of the Immigration Department.
14. Worker must return to the country of origin as soon as possible after
resigning, being dismissed or when the Temporary Employment Visitation Pass
has expired or been cancelled to their country of origin.
15. The approval for Temporary Employment Visitation Pass can be revoked if
it contravenes the condition set out by the Immigration Department.

The Temporary Employment Visitation Pass is issued to
skilled and unskilled foreign workers.
The intended foreign workers must be outside Malaysia
at the time of application. The applicant is allowed to
enter and takes up employment only when the Temporary
Employment Visitation Pass is approved.
The application for Temporary Employment Visitation Pass
has to be submitted by the local employer to the nearest
State Immigration Office.

Conditions for issuing Professional Visitation Pass
1. Issued to foreigners who wish to enter for the purpose of engaging
in short term contract with any agencies. The validity of the pass
varies but not to exceed twelve months at any one time.
2. The intended foreign applicant must be outside Malaysia at the time
of application. The applicant is allowed to enter only when the pass is
approved.
3. The application has to be submitted by the local sponsor to the
Immigration Headquarters, Kuala Lumpur.
