'Malaysia: My Second Home'

The Malaysia: My Second Home program allows people from all over the world, who fulfill certain criteria, to stay in Malaysia as long as possible on a Social Visit Pass with a Multiple Entry Visa. The Social Visit Pass is initially for a period of 5 years and is renewable.

This program is open to all citizens of countries recognized by Malaysia regardless of race, religion, gender or age. The applicant must prove a minimum fixed deposit of RM 150,000 with any Malaysian financial institution and have a monthly offshore income equivalent to at least RM 7000 if single or RM 10,000 if with a spouse. However, if the applicant is above 50 years old, the applicant has only to prove either a fixed deposit of the same amount or a monthly income as stated.

Other conditions include an optional reputable sponsor (this condition is not required if the financial background and status of the applicant satisfies the Processing Officer), obtaining a medical report from any recognized hospital, valid health insurance, and the applicant cannot seek gainful employment in Malaysia unless he or she possesses special expertise and obtains the permission of the Malaysian government.

'Silver Hair Programme'

The Government of Malaysia welcomes Senior Citizens, Pensioners along with their spouses from all over the world (those countries recognized by the Malaysian Government), to stay in Malaysia on a long term year-to-year basis for 5 years initially and followed by an extension of stay for another year-to-year basis for the next subsequent 5 years.

Applicants must be 50 years and above, but the age of the spouse is unconditional. Applicants must possess medical coverage applicable in Malaysia. In case of person of old age refused insurance coverage by an insurance company; this requirement is optional. Applicants with a spouse must derive pension(s) or royalties or other income not less than RM 10,000 per month or have in possession a savings account of RM 150,000. A single applicant will only need pension, royalties or income of only RM 7000 per month or have in possession a savings account of RM 100,000.

Application Procedure

Applications can be submitted while the applicant is in Malaysia provided that the applicant is in possession of a valid Pass. Successful applicants, are exempted from the requirement of leaving the country to obtain a Visa from Malaysian Representative Office abroad, Visa will be issued IN Malaysia together with a Social Visit Pass.

Applicants may submit their applications by providing the following documents

- Letter Application
- 2 copies of Imm.12 - Social Visit application Form
- 2 passport sized photographs of applicant and spouse (if accompanied by spouse)
- Copies of all pages of travel document of the applicant and spouse
- Copy of Marriage Certificate, if accompanied by a spouse
- Copy of certified Bank Statement - Medical Report from a recognized Medical Institution in Malaysia
- A RM10.00 Personal Bond From stamped by the stamp Duty Office
- A copy of the sponsors Identity Card (if applicable)
