History of the Embassy

Diplomatic relationship between Malaysia and the Republic of Croatia was established in 1994 to facilitate economic, trade and cultural relations between the two countries. The Embassy was subsequently set up in July 1994 to maintain the imperative bilateral relationship. Since the Embassys establishment, Malaysia has kept its Embassy at the level of Charge d Affaires with the Malaysian Ambassador to Hungary being concurrently accredited to the Republic of Croatia. Since the inception of the Embassy, the bilateral relations between Croatia and Malaysia have been warm and cordial. In November 1995, Croatia reciprocated diplomatic ties by establishing its Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

In April 2003, Malaysia upgraded its representation in the Republic of Croatia with the appointment of Dato M.N. Haji Azman as its first resident Ambassador.

The Embassys primary task is to contribute to national efforts in achieving and consolidating economic development. The Embassy will also inform foreign investors, trading partners, donors, financial institutions, government and private sectors in the accredited countries on the positive realities about todays Malaysia. These realities include the Malaysias firm commitment to reforms, democratization and good governance.
