One more radio interview with Mark & Charlize on the BBC Radio 4's Backrow.
It's right in the first 6 minutes, so you don't have to listen to the
whole 30 minutes. Make sure you hear it this week, as they change the
audio files next Saturday.
09-19
OK, so I found it! Capital FM has
the audio to the interview FOX FM posted the transcript of a few days
ago. I take it Fox FM syndicated Capital's stuff. DO check out the audio
as the transcript isn't all of the interview! Gotta love Capital - last
time during POTA's run, Mark took over the station and answered
questions on air and they posted the audio as well.
From Mark S. Dark
Horizons reported ''Planet of the Apes 2: BBC
Wales indicates Tim Burton has been scouting England to shoot the sequel
in late 2004 with both Pinewood & Shepperton studios being looked at"
They had a live
press conference online and luckily I caught the last 30 seconds
of it. Managed to screen cap Mark! Unfortunately it was all in Spanish
so I didn't understand a word! Pics from earlier in the day are over at
Yahoo News, Getty and Wireimage as usual.
Looks like Mark
and Charlize were in Spain yesterday for the San
Sebastian Film Festival. News from the paper there El
Dario Vasco and from El
Mondo - which in hindsight did confirm they were coming in an
earlier article. What do I always say? Read your local paper - they know
alot more than I do! For those who
don't read spanish, the articles mostly go on about the walkout by
union workers at the hotel many film fest goers are staying at.

Funny how things get quoted, BBC
Radio had this quote from Mark on George and his opinion on
TIJ: "George loved it! I sent
him the reviews… All the reviews in America said "a cooler, younger,
hipper version of 'Ocean's Eleven'" and "better than 'Ocean's Eleven'",
so I sent those to George immediately. "You know what? You're right,
what are you going to do?" He said "well we'll get you on the sequel."
You know, it's all in fun with me and George, we've been friends for a
long time." And the wires make it
sound like Mark is in Ocena's 12. It's all in the context, although that
would be interesting if he was.
I haven't seen
it posted anywhere yet, but looks like Mark was on Fox FM in the UK the
other day and they posted the transcript.
Don't suppose anyone heard it? I read he did a slightly different
version of the famous line of Caine's ("You were only supposed to blow
the bloody doors off"
1969 TIJ) in a
good imitation of Caine's accent.
And TIJ has
it's first nomination already according to the Hollywood
Reporter (via Backstage). The Artios, an award given by the Casting
Society of America nominated Sheila Jaffe for casting a feature film in
drama. Other nominees in the category are "Igby Goes Down"; Denise
Chamian for 20th Century Fox's "Minority Report"; Debra Zane, Mickie
Paskal and Rachel Tenner for DreamWorks' "Road to Perdition"; and Daniel
Swee for Paramount Pictures' "The Hours"

(search under Wahlberg) A short video of the premiere from the Evening
Standard.
Ever wonder
what Mark sounds like in dubbbed movies in non-English countries? Allocine
has a video of Mark & Charlize talking about the film -edited
between is the French dubbed trailer for the film.
09-15
Well Mark did make it to the UK. Pics from Yahoo
and Wireimage.
He also was on TRL (MTV UK) with Charlize and BBC News
had coverage of the premiere. Some UK articles from the BBC,Ananova, Ananova
again about not doing any movies like BN in the future, MRIB Charlize & Mark on his weak
stomach when she drives, Teletext
(said he's out of POTA 2) & Sky.
Sylvie emailed
me to say Cinelive
- a French Magazine has an article with Mark in it's 71st issue.
09-14
Also those in the US, the UK magazines from last month should be
hitting Barnes & Noble, Borders and the like now.
Thanks to
Sophie, more pics from the Deauville
site from the press conference.
OT: Christian
Bale's the new Batman! :) Also looks like Keira Knightley (from Bend It
Like Beckham & Pirates of the carribean) might sign up for The
Jacket. Seems to be picking up since Mark left the project.
09-12
Looks like Mark might just be going to the UK premiere Monday if one
goes by XFM's
contest details.
He did show up
at Deauville, hope you guys made the trip. I did tell you he might.
Anyway, Yahoo has pics up expect tons more at the usual places tomorrow.
The
Telegraph (UK) has another interview with Mark. Looks like Mark was
on GMTV
(UK Morning TV show) Today and on ET on the 19th?
I'm in the States so don't blame me I just saw it while browsing
the web.
GingerGrant
posted a pic from the Huckabee wrap party over at MW.com.
Scratch another
project off Mark's list, according to the Boston Hearld yesterday, the
option on Mob over Miami has been scuttled after the Feds got involved.
Now writer Michelle McPhee is suing "Boys Don't Cry'' director Kimberly
Peirce after she failed to make the book into a movie. It had been said
Mark was being pursued to play Chris Paciello, the mob connected Miami
scenester. Paciello is currently under the federal witness program. He
got into trouble when his former partner contacted him to sign off on
the project. Since he has a new identity, it's not a good idea to be
known talking to your ex-partner in crime about why you're in the
program in the first place.

Hollywood reports EW said: Hollywood
agent Josh Klein was so desperate to tempt new dad Mark Wahlberg away
from his Endeavor agency, he agreed to step into the boxing ring with
the hulking star.
Wahlberg told Klein he'd consider a switch to his United Talent Agency
if the agent could beat him in the ring he has built at his Hollywood
home.
According to showbiz magazine Entertainment Weekly, brave Klein lasted
less than a round and was knocked down three times by boxing fan
Wahlberg, but the movie star was so impressed the agent stepped into the
ring at all he's now considering his options.
Funny as Mark used to be with UTA for 5+ years
before switching over to Endeavor (which had 3 former CAA agents - a
firm Mark was also with for 6 months) in 1999. Personally I don't think
it's his talent agency he should change, but that's just me. :p
Sam sent me a scan of last
Sunday's Telegraph Magazine (UK). Look to the left and down a bit.
Given all the
personal issues, I'd highly doubt Mark will be at the Deauville Film
Festival this Friday or even perhaps at the fundraiser later this month
in Boston.
09-05
Some happy and sad news: It's official Mark's a daddy to Ella Rae
according to a variety of entertainment
news shows and Fox
Searchlight. Congratulations to the new parents!
But there is
also sad news to report from Donnie and Kim via Jen of DonnieWahlberg.com.
Given the news was prematurely leaked before the entire family wanted
it to be known publically, I want to reemphasize that fans should show
some respect to the family and let them grieve privately as they have
asked. Don't be a stalkerazzi. The best thing to do is to keep
them in your thoughts and prayers.
In less heavy
news, DVD
Times reports The Truth About Charlie hits the UK September 29th as
a bare bones edition. You're better off with the US version as it has a
bit more than the Region 2 version.
09-04
TIJ will be rolling out further in Europe and the
Telegraph (UK) has an interview they did during the US press run.
The Hollywood
Reporter rounds up the summer movie season and TIJ is one of the
highlights for Paramount. A few days ago Mark did an interview with Star
FM and Kazuko posted a
link to the mp3
file.

News from Variety that: Cheyenne
production['s], True Believers, is moving forward quickly at MGM, with
the studio making a pay-or-play offer to Japanese horror helmer Hideo
Nakata (Ringu), and readying an offer for Mark Wahlberg to star. According to the industry
paper, the movie is based on a book by Die Hard writer, Doug Richardson,
would be a: thriller about a senator who has his eye
on the White House; his wife, who is eyeing motherhood; and a prisoner
on death row who wants to be the messiah. This psychotic has a league of
"true believers" who will do his bidding -- and in this case, he wants
them to kidnap and artifically inseminate the senator's wife, so that a
"messiah" can live on after his death.
It
had earlier been reported Nakata had signed on way back in February and
said: "We flew Hideo in, and
just in one meeting he came up with fresh ideas which helped the
script," said [Bruce] Willis' partner, Arnold Rifkin. "He showed the
same intuition and intelligence for suggestive fright that we saw in
'The Ring' and 'Chaos.' We are glad to be first to utilize that gift in
a studio film."
