Mark & Eminem were recently spotted at a Boston bar and guess who had more ladies? LOL Of course Mark! Eminem was in town for his tour with the Anger Management crew.

For those who have to see Mark all the time, The Hollywood Wax Museum is the place to see him every day. They just installed a life size likeness of Mark as Leo Davidson! The Hollywood Wax Museum is at 6767 Hollywood Blvd. For information, call +1-323-462-5991.

07-29
The Boston Herald reports: Sadly, coverboy Mark Wahlberg will be MIA when Boston maggie unveils its 29th annual "Best of Boston" issue tonight at a chi-chi celebration under the tent in Copley Square.

But he graciously named all his Best hangouts in the Hub that he heads to while at home on a Hollywood hiatus. We learn he likes to get scrod at Legal Sea Foods. But while hangin' in the Dorchester hood, he prefers McKenna's Cafe and the 'za at Hi-Fi Pizza Pie.

And what's the Best place for kids to hang? Marky says it's definitely the Col. Daniel Marr Boys & Girls Club - even though he got kicked out when he was a kid!

Tonight's party for more than 700 Best of Boston winners and other VIPs benefits the Boston Arts Academy.

The NY Post reports Miramax is eager for Mark to do the Green Hornet: WITH the success of "Spider-Man," every hot young star is looking for a superhero to play. Miramax said Harvey Weinstein may be about to give that bonanza to Mark Wahlberg, the former rapper, who is carving out a fine film career. Harvey told Webster Hall curator Baird Jones at the "Tadpole" premiere that he's getting ready to cast a movie based on the exploits of the "Green Hornet," a character who matches Spider-Man in the comic book pantheon. "I just heard a rumor that Mark is interested in the role," Weinstein said. "We've had the 'Green Hornet' property for two years and we've been polishing the script so it's just about ready now. I think Wahlberg would be great and I'd love to team him with a major Asian actor as Kato, perhaps Jet Li or Jackie Chan." It had been rumoured Mark was on the short list the past few years and seems Harvey is resurrecting the rumour. Altho last we heard Mark wasn't all that thrilled with the company's treatment of The Yards in 2000.

Kazuko's has a new look at her site, MarkWahlbergJapan.com is the new address, change your bookmarks!

From this July 22 Newsweek: For the past week [Robert] Evans has been screening, to select gatherings of old and new Hollywood royalty, "The Kid Stays in the Picture" -- a documentary by Brett Morgen and Nanette Burstein that charts his improbable, flamboyant rise and fall as the golden boy of '70s Hollywood.  "The film is a lot easier to watch than to live," he says. Friends Jack Nicholson and Warren Beatty have been to see it as well as Matt Dillon and directors Wes Anderson and David O. Russell.  Woody Allen, he says, is peeved that Evans hasn't given him a screening yet. "Mark Wahlberg called 20 times for an invite."The movie built around the abridged audio tape Evans recorded of his 1994 autobiography of the same name -- an audio that became a cult item in Hollywood -- has made him hot and hip again. I take it Mark got an invite as he was at the Walk of Fame. :)

07-14
The Charlie trailer is attached to The Road to Perdition (very good movie by the way). I've been approached to add Fandango to this website, so when Charlie opens, you can just scroll to the bottom and buy your movie tickets online!

For those going to the Maine Film Festival, Demme is set to appear on the 17th.

07-13
I've added some Charlie pics from the official movie site. Sorry about the quality but its not exactly easy getting flash pictures. ;) Adds a bit of mystery, like we're spying on Joshua and Reggie (Mark & Thandie's characters).

Backtracking to March, found another great article about remakes from Variety, with some quotes from Demme on Charlie.

07-12
Lots of Charlie reports and just before Bastille Day!

The official The Truth About Charlie movie site is up! It has new pics and a Flash background. Should be cool when they have even more stuff. And YES officially set to open Oct 25th! Those having problems with Quicktime, a Windows Media version of the trailer is available at the movie site.

Markluver09 found Apple updated their trailer page today with the New Charlie trailer! Make sure you have Quicktime 5 or you'll be prompted to upgrade (4.5MB).

Kazuko found a possible report of reshoots of Charlie on Countingdown.com. It's unconfirmed as I sense a little editing on the part of the editor, it could be just Thandie working on her next picture. You be the judge!

In anycase, while trying to find collaborating info, I found more reliable sources for when Charlie will open overseas. the BBC reports 'early next year' and an Australian website claims to have the UIP release schedule with Charlie set to open Feb 2003.

And if you want to help get more info on Charlie and live in Maine (or plan to be around the area for the festival), check out the Maine International Film Festival starting today at Railroad Square Cinema. Jonathan Demme is suppose to honored at the Festival. It would be really great if you could try to ask him about Charlie. I unfortunately am on the other coast. Info's below.

Description:
Academy Award-winning director Jonathan Demme will be honored with the Mid-Life Achievement Award at the 5th Annual Maine International Film Festival (MIFF) in Waterville July 12-21. Previous recipients include Academy Award-winning actress Sissy Spacek (2001), Academy Award-nominated director Terrence Malick (2000) and noted Dutch director Jos Stelling (1999). Demme is in the midst of a singular and remarkable career that spans the range of filmmaking, from idiosyncratic, personal visions to stalwart documentaries to Hollywood blockbusters. Currently, he has two films nearing release, "The Agronomist," a documentary shot in Haiti, and "The The Truth About Charlie," a contemporary remake of the caper thriller "Charade." In 1992 Demme won his Oscar for "Silence of the Lambs," which also swept the Academy's major awards, winning Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Actress and Best Actor. Since then, he has directed "Philadelphia" (which won Tom Hanks an Oscar in 1995), "Beloved" and "Storefront Hitchcock." His films prior to "Silence of the Lambs" include "Married to the Mob," "Something Wild," "Stop Making Sense" (the riveting Talking Heads concert film), "Cousin Bobby," "Swimming to Cambodia," with Spalding Gray, "Swing Shift," "Handle with Care," and "Melvin and Howard," which was named Best Film of the Year by the National Society of Film critics in 1980. Demme also won the Best Director award from the New York Film Critics' Circle for "Melvin and Howard." [...] Festival programmer Ken Eisen looks forward to Demme's presence at this year's festival. "Jonathan Demme is one of the great filmmakers in American movies, a director who's made some of the key movies of the past 20 years. We're honored and thrilled to have the chance to have him with us, for our audiences to have the chance to visit with him, and to have the chance to show some of his extraordinary films, both old and new."

07-10
The NY Daily News reported Mark was at Tobey Maguire's birthday party recently. Also spotted there was Leo Dicaprio, Mark's costar in BD. What I like to know is how a NY paper has more news on the LA scene than the LA papers.

The July 15th issue of People has a pic of Mark & Rhea. Fuzzy picture tho. I suspect a telephoto lens. Bad Paparazzi!

And finally the rumoured SWAT has gone to another Irish honey: Colin Farrell, who reminds me alot of Mark in his Marky Mark days. Colin was on last month's Vanity Fair and can be spotted in Minority Report.

07-06
Hope you had a Happy 4th of July! A bunch of  updates.

Here's the link to the other Mark pic from the GAAD. Kazuko is thinking it occured when he went to Boston to dedicate the gym he helped fund - thru his foundation - in Dec.

Some sharp eyes on the boards noticed costumes from TPS (Mark's Yellow slicker set) and 3K (Mark, Cube, Spike & George's army uniforms) are being auctioned off by Sotheby's via Ebay. You better have some beaucoup $$$ ($800+ & $4000+). Ends July 8th.

The Boston Herald reported yesterday:In other prop news, Northeastern University is dogged in its attempts for national exposure. Why should Harvard get all the good Hollywood gigs, right?

The Huskies have already had their college gear featured on ``Spin City'' and ``Everyone Loves Raymond'' this past season. And now there's some barking about placement on the silver screen!

Word is, Paramount Pictures' prop peeps rang up the Huntington Avenue school the other day seeking some Huskies garb and other collegiate tchotchkes for the remake of the old heist caper, ``The Italian Job.'' The flick stars Dorchester's own Mark Wahlberg, who didn't study at NU. But at least he knows where it is!

And from January's Empire (UK): Tom Cruise drew heaps of praise from all present at last night's Vanilla Sky premiere (21 January) and his Mission: Impossible 2 co-star Thandie Newton was no exception. But while singing Cruise's praises, Newton did stop long enough to give Empire Online the lowdown on her latest project.

"I've just finished a film with Mark Wahlberg, which Jonathan Demme directed. It's a remake of Charades with Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant, so it's that kind of banter and the chemistry between those two characters."

Based on the 1963 film, The Truth About Charlie sees Newton as a young woman in Paris who is about to divorce her husband when she finds out he's died and taken all their money with him. The plot thickens as a strange man (Wahlberg) tells her the money is really his and demands that she hand it over. Cue intrigues within intrigues and a string of dead bodies.

"We're not trying to recreate the film," says Newton, "it's a complete departure but it's still a romance, a thriller-romance." The original involved the theft of a WWII payroll but this has doubtless been rewritten to bring the story up to date.

With Newton having acted alongside Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and a number of other shapely actors, we can't help but wonder how well Wahlberg measures up?

"He's great. I found him quite controlled and reserved, he's an incredibly sexy presence in life and on screen… he's all man."

07-03
Kazuko once again finds some great pics of Mark at an unknown event in Boston with the Director of the Mass. Governor's Alliance Against Drugs!

News from Sci-Fi Wire (via Dark Horizons) in regard to POTA 2: Don't hold your breath. As reported in April it'll be a couple years before Fox works on the sequel. Again no word if Burton will be at the helm but confirms Mark does have an option with Fox for the sequel.

I'm just laying this out as I find the business end of the film world quite fascinating. So Vivendi's stock plunged 25% yesterday, rumbles of another possible accounting scandal (they deny it) and analysts are speculating Universal Studios will be spun off. If that is the case, it shouldn't do too much damage to the studio as its been one of the more profitable arms of the super media company. Still one hopes all the financing for Charlie's publicity run has been resolved months ago or it won't be pretty as the company tries to pay its debt and/or if those accounting rumours are true.

07-02
Hope fellow Canadians had a good Canada Day yesterday. I was recovering from Pride, I was exhausted by marching and just having a great time. Saw Sir Ian McKellen who looked fabulous in his white outfit. It was another perfect day, sunny, not too hot, good music and lots of people being themselves and perhaps changing the world - that was the theme for our Pride. :)

More casting for The Italian Job with Seth Green and possibly Donald Sutherland joining the film. Oh my Variety dropped the pattern. In other news, Vevendi Universal's Chairman Messier resigned. What effect this will have on the Studio is unknown but it should be in the back of our minds in regard to Charlie.
