Moved the calendar to descending
and added more early screenings of Charlie, this one in DC for Film
Society Members only. Still no Mark, but Thandie & Jonathan will
be for a Q&A. If you manage to get into this one or the Austin one,
drop me a note about what went
on OK?
Also if you want a chance to
see Charlie just a few days early (no cast will be at these) EW
has a contest to win passes if you live in the 12 cities they have
them in. Deadline to enter is Oct 10th!
Caught the ET TIJ BTS on MTV's
version, nothing new on Mark, just more questions for Charlize. (She's
not engaged to Stuart Townsend)
Coming
Attractions is reporting David Duchovny is signing on TIJ! It is very
possible as his next film My Dark Places seems to be on hold til financing
gets settled. I'd be very happy as an X-Phile and DD fan!
09-28
Did anyone check Donnie on Leno
yesterday? He so dogged on Mark! lol Typical big bro behavior, so don't
go player hating on Donnie, its all family.
Word is the Premiere's in LA
now! Don't ask where, how or why cause I don't know. Details as they come,
so don't ask if you don't see any, it just means I got nada.
Also notice some edits on the
Charlie Euro dates, they keep pushing it farther into the Spring and I
added the UK date as pretty much every unofficial site listed the date.
As always, dates are subject to change esp this far out.
Evidently ET
had a segment about TIJ Wed, I don't recall seeing it. Anyway, lucky
for us they have the vids up, yeah! Oh Mark's in them so go now! Thanks
to Dark Horizons for spotting
that! And I forgot to mention Rex
Features has more pics of the cars & Ms. Theron.
09-26
In a recent article, Helena
Bonham Carter on Mark: "Very charming, very thoughtful. And for the star
he is, pretty well-adjusted."
UpcomingMovies
updated a bit, with TIJ set for May 30th, this of course is unofficial
tho Greg is da man when he posts dates. In other news The Sun - the UK
paper not the US tabloid, has 2
pics of the new Minis filming parts of The Italian Job in LA this week.
And yes that is Charlize on the set last week. Sorry no Mark to be found
in the pics!
Just in time for The Truth About
Charlie's premiere, the US Postal service will be issuing a Cary Grant
37-cent commemorative stamp Oct. 15 as a part of the Legends of Hollywood
series.
In other news if you want to
be a reporter for this site, The 2002
Screenwriting Expo, Nov. 16th and 17th at the LA Convention Center
has as their Guest of Honor: David O. Russell on SUNDAY @ 6 PM IN ROOM
502AB, FREE — 1000 seats available. Besides some interesting seminars if
you want to get into screenwriting (you have to pay for those), you might
be able to help find out about this untitled project David has set to film
in Jan.
09-21
Charlie gets #4 on the Chicago
Tribune's 10 to watch list. Also if you're in the NYC area, Loews'
is giving away free passes to an early screening of Charlie as a part of
their Spotlight on the Cure program. More info to be posted the 27th
at their
website. Also a % of the concession sales will go to the Susan G. Komen
Breast Cancer Foundation.
09-18
Dug out some oldish
interviews, articles from RS & POTA press run as well as the now
dead project Out on My Feet.
Small Mark mention in the October
Premiere, there's a pic from the '97 photo spread, as well as a great article
about independent film, with comments from David O. Russell, Tim Roth and
Phillip Seymour Hoffman.
Also on a not really related
to Mark note, last Thursday I went to the Goo
Goo Dolls concert where Third Eye Blind
played also. Very cool show and I got some up
close pics of 3EB frontman Stephan from blah seats! Boy was I glad
I was cheap! Sorry, No GGD pics, I spent all my film on 3EB. ;-)
09-13
Ahh, Friday the 13th!! But it's
usually a good day for me and I have updates. Mark Shields updated some
info about Charlie, dates for the press junket (which means watch out for
news stuff after that date) and date of the premiere, tho the location
is still unsure. Word it may be a charity event, which sucks because who
the heck has $250 to spend especially when you have no taxes to write off?
Also a new address for Mark's
foundation, update your files to:

09-08
Just a quick peak at the Donnie
& Mark hug on Extra
can be seen (you'll need Real Player) toward the end of the clip.
I've moved the German date For
Charlie to March as Danie from the boards called the publicity office to
confirm the date.
Word is The Italian Job will
be filming in the streets of LA later this month, so keep your eyes peeled
for Minis driven by Mark!
09-06
Thanks to yvebart on the boards
for the heads up on Mark being in the Paramount's 90th Birthday pic in
the October issue of Vanity Fair (Madonna on the cover). Mark is near the
bottom left hand side, near Penny Marshall & James Caan, wearing a
white dress shirt.
Side Note from Showbizdata: Only
two months after Warner Bros. promoted him to the position of executive
vice president, worldwide motion pictures, the top film production post
at the studio, Lorenzo di Bonaventura quit Tuesday, saying that he was
unhappy with the "corporate" nature of the job. Today's (Wednesday) Los
Angeles Times quoted sources as saying that di Bonaventura's resignation
came after numerous clashes with Warner President Alan Horn, culminating
with a disagreement over whether the studio should make a new sequel to
Superman or a film titled Batman vs. Superman. A source told the Times:
"Alan wanted to make Superman. Lorenzo wanted to make Batman vs. Superman.
I know they polled the executives on which to make. Alan overruled Lorenzo
and the project was shelved. ... After that, Lorenzo told people he was
really upset at Alan. It wasn't just about this one movie, but it was this
project that brought things to a head." di Bonaventura was an important
guy at WB, helping push Three Kings onto screens despite its somewhat controversial
subject. He stays on with WB as an indie film producer.
09-04
Thanx to Kristy on the MarkTalk
Group, we know on Labor Day there was a short segment on Extra with Donnie
on the set of Boomtown when Mark stopped by on a break from filming. So
TIJ is filming w/o Ed for the moment. Also Steph notes some screencaps
of the segment are over at DonnieWahlberg.com.
Also over the weekend, PageSix
reported possible problems with Charlie:
UNIVERSAL Pictures' new movie,
"The Truth About Charlie," is such a stinker, the studio has pulled a scheduled
Sept. 18 screening from Conde Nast Traveler's Film Forum. The picture,
starring Mark Wahlberg, Thandie Newton and Tim Robbins, is set to hit theaters
Oct. 25. Spies say all previews have been canceled. A rep for Universal
laughed it off: "It is a matter of scheduling. This was a promotional screening
and we had a release date change, so it didn't make sense to show it so
early. We have full confidence in this film and will have press screenings."
And word is Tim Burton is doing
a Broadway musical version of Batman! According to E! it's set for 2004
which was one of the possible dates for POTA2. Hmmm.
08-29
From the Hollywod Reporter:
Aug. 27, 2002
NEW YORK -- Tonight, Edward
Norton and Catherine Keener begin their limited off-Broadway run at the
Union Square in the revival of "Burn This," the Lanford Wilson drama in
which John Malkovich first bedazzled New York playgoers in 1987. It's in
for only 10 weeks, with its official opening Sept. 19. (Robert Osborne)
So that puts Ed gone til early November and no word from anyone on hows
this going to effect The Italian Job filming. Either his part is pretty
small or they're cramming filming in the winter. Hey if you're in NYC,
see if you can track Norton and ask him what up!
08-24
Go to the store and look for
Mark's mug on September's Details Magazine!! Thanks to Harleygirl26 for
letting people know! Outside the US, make sure you ask for the US version!
Lots of tidbits including - look who tells us what Mark's next movie will
be! Make sure you write to Details to let them know you liked it! E-mail
is [email protected]
08-21
As you probably heard Mark was
in Vegas this weekend to pull in the Boss' (Bruce Springsteen if you don't
know) concert!
Forgot to mention, Sarah at the
boards mentioned Mark & Thandie in Entertainment Weekly's new issue
(w/Leo, Cameron Diaz & Daniel Day Lewis on the cover) the annual
Fall Movie Preview. More quotes about/from Thandie and Demme, but not a
thing from Mark. Very curious. Cool pic of Thandie & Mark tho. Also
check out previews of Mark past and future co-stars: multiple offerings
from George Clooney, Leo, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Brian Cox, Julianne
Moore and Edward Norton. Movies starring Resse Witherspoon, William H.
Macy, John C. Reilly as well as Directors Ice Cube & PT Anderson
also open this fall/winter.
08-19
The NY Daily has a great
article on Donnie and there's a tidbit on his thoughts on a movie with
Mark. Let's just say I wouldn't hold my breath.
And yes those are the new official
Euro dates for Charlie. Before you ask, No I don't know anymore than what
you see as I spent hours going thru the 2 dozen UIP sites to find those.
No I don't know why your UIP site isn't updated, I don't know if Mark will
be coming to your country to promote it. Yes if I know it will be posted.
08-10
Monica
has scans of the pics inside the August Boston Magazine!
Also the Official
Charlie site has the movie poster as a wallpaper in 640,
800,
1024
and 1280
screen sizes.
The new Premiere (US edition
Sept - Salma Hayek on cover) has a small mention of Charlie in its
fall preview including a talk with Thandie Newton. On Mark, she said: "He's
like the epitome of sex. You just know he gets a lot of it." LOL Also in
the issue is news Edward Norton signed onto The Italian Job for
about $1 Million, very much below what he made for his upcoming Red
Dragon - which is the prequal to The Silence of the Lambs directed
by Demme. There's also a little bit about BN costar John C. Riley and Clooney's
movies.
08-07
As you can see Boston
Magazine updated their site and see Mark's cover. Its an old pic, last
time I saw it I think it was in Cosmopolitan in 98 or so. According to
Katt its just a short piece about his favorite places in Boston and a bit
about his growing up there. So if you want my opinion, don't spend the
$8 if you can't find it around you unless you must have everything with
Mark on it.
