  Thanksgiving 2006

My sister Em and her husband James, son Henry, brought a new addition down to Florida for their second Thanksgiving with us: Wesley Eyring Robertson.

Somehow, we didn't take any pictures of The Meal, but we did do turkey.  Em & James made a great carrot soufflé. We also played soccer at the ward sports day; (I made a goal for both teams--oops!) Later, we ate the first ever "sandcastle cake", a spice cake made in the coolest Bundt mold ever.

Happily, Henry didn't cry at the beach like he did last year. James loves his son, and spent lots of time with him in the water, burying their legs in the sand, showing him the crane moving rocks at the Jupiter Inlet.

Dave and I on the beach. We all got burned. The beach is such a strange thing to do for 2 sisters who grew up spending turkey day in the windy cold north.

Em and I took the kids to the wildlife zoo program. Henry was tired and ended up being more interested in dirt, which always finds it's way onto the mom.

Em and James were really easy-going and didn't demand a lot of action over the break. We played card games late every night, and Em and I went over the history of my grandpa that we're writing. Emily is my only sister, and we think a lot alike, and we can talk and talk and talk!

Saturday night we sent Em and James out on the town, while we played favorite aunt and uncle. Dave watched the babe, and Henry and I made cookies.

Henry was so MUCH FUN! It took him a few hours, but he learned how to breathe in and out of a harmonica. It took every toy in our house to keep him occupied. Dave had him unscrewing the valve caps to pump up the tires. That might be a problem for his parents...

He can't say names well yet, so I took a page from Dave's sister's book and taught him to call me Lala. Em says he talks about me when he's at home. And he can talk to me on the phone, if I ask yes/no questions and 'what-sound-does-this-animal-make' questions very quickly.

It's tough being cute, but Henry manages it somehow.
