Resistance Soldering

for helping the hobbiest or modeler build their own home built or homemade system.
resistance (ri-zis'tens) soldering

A process in which the heat needed to melt the solder is developed by the resistance of the material when a large electrical current is supplied. Resistance soldering can be applied to electrically conductive materials that allow the passage of electric current. The process can be used for selective spot soldering of small components, for the soldering of closely placed parts on an assembly, or for heat restriction when necessary. It is similar in many ways to resistance brazing.
Before attempting to build these or any other device requiring electricity, make sure you have a complete understanding of what you are doing!!!
This site was created to gather all the information and links pertaining to resistance soldering for the hobbiest.  It includes pages on how I built my system with circuit schematics and parts detail.  Also on this page are links that shows how other people built theirs and some very good reference sites. I will be adding to the site on a regular basis as I find relivant information.  eMail me if I should add something.

If you have never heard about resistance soldering you will be supprised how such a simple concept can be put to work soldering brass.  The localized heat produced by such a rig will allow percise placement of intricate parts leaving parts installed prior to remain soldered.  Something very hard to do with a torch or conventional iron.

Please enjoy!
