Handpieces - Micro Pen Type Soldering Iron
This iron was built the same as the Pen Type Iron except for the dimensions.  As before, I machined the iron core from a solid length of 5/8 brass rod.  After the core was finished, a block of black walnut was turned on the core for the handle.  I put a 2 degree taper on the handle to give a nice balance and feel to the iron.  This time due to the size of the iron, I drilled and tapped it out to accept tips with a 10-24tpi thread. The tip has been drilled out for 1/16 stainless steel electrodes.  They are held in place with a 4-40 hex set screw.  The handle end is drilled out to accept a standard banana plug so it is interchangeable with my larger iron.
