Accommodation, Living expenses |
Student can choose either to
live in University's hostels or to rent an apartment in the city. The
University reserves rooms for foreign students at the student's hostel where
two-bed and single-bed rooms with a separate kitchen and a bathroom are
available. The hostel is located on the University campus just a 10 minute
walk from the University. Monthly rent payment ranges approximately 100 USD
and depends on living conditions. The deposit is 100 USD, if student has not
caused any damage it will be repaid when leaving.
In the hostel there is a computer room (but recently it is not in use as
internet is provided to each room), a call box, but no telephones in each
room. Meals are not included in the rent. Students make their own meals in
the common kitchen (two rooms share a kitchen). There is a cafe in the
hostel, a grocery store and a laundry close to the building. If there are
any problems with electricity, water, locking, etc. an inhabitant should
inform the receptionists and the problem will be eliminated.
Note: Student's are required to pay the rent for half a year in advance.

Bachelor and postgraduate
students are provided with laboratory, library, computing, sports and
cultural facilities available at the University. University canteens and
cafeterias offer comparatively cheap meals of good quality. Food expenses
are approximately 200 USD/month. |

|
There is a convenient public
transportation system in Vilnius consisting of
busses,
trolley-busses
and mini-busses.
Students have 80% discount for monthly tickets (separately for busses and
trolley-busses) which are sold in kiosks. |

Time |
|
In Lithuania we use the European time and the
European system of expressing time (say 13.00 instead of 1 p.m.). |

Climate |
|
The climate in Lithuania is approximately the
same as in other Baltic countries. Spring comes in April and June, July and
August are the warmest months with an average temperature of 20°C.
Around October it becomes colder and February is the coldest month. The
temperature various from -5 to -20°C. |
