The main planning unit is a study modulus. The study modulus is a teaching subject or it's part which is taught during one semester. Measurement unit of a study volume is a credit. One credit includes 40 hours of the student's effective auditorium and independent work. The study modulus can be obligatory or chosen. Every semester obligatory or chosen sets of study modulus are determined in the study programmes. The four year study program of Bachelor's degree consists of 160 credits and the two years study program of Master's degree - 80 credits.

 Grading system:

During the semester a student must do the tasks that are foreseen in a modulus program of the subject: homework counting and diagram works, tests, summaries, pass oral examinations, do and defend laboratory works and course projects. Only after having accounted for all foreseen tasks, a student is allowed to have an examination.
Vilnius Gediminas Technical University has following grading system:
 
 Grade    Evaluation
 
 10    Excellent
     
 9    Very good
     
 8    Good
     
 7    Fair
     
 6    Satisfactory
     
 5    Pass
     
 4 and below    Fail
