Minutes of Hull FOE AGM Tuesday 4th April 2006 8pm at Relax Coffee Shop, Newland Avenue Hull
1. Present: Ian, Haris, Hilary, Alan W, David L, David Callaghan, Arthur, Bill, Janet, Chrys, Debbie. Welcomed esp. new member Janet and Dave C who we hadn�t seen for a while.

2. Apologies: Carole, Steve, Chris Upton, Shan, Mal.

3. Reports: Membership Sec: [Report mislaid but it said 56 paid up members incl. 8 new, slightly down on last year].
Treasurer: Income: �1602; Expenditure: �1295.01; Balance in bank: �3050
CARGO: [Garden Waste collection scheme]: Income: �702.44; Expenditure:�566.22; Balance in bank: �2318.96
Questions were about CARGO. Collected 3,500 bags since start of scheme.
Compost taking a long time to rot down, however, starting to get some crops off topsoil.
Shredder believed to be with Yorkshire Wildlife Trust being welded.

4. Officers: Agreed: Sue for Coordinator, Haris for Chair; Debbie for Treasurer; Hilary for Minute Sec.; Chrys for CARGO; Alan T willing to continue doing newsletter if we don�t mind it sometimes being late.

5. FOE questionnaires, 5 returned.

6. FOE Group questionnaire discussed. Get plenty of info from FOE. Could do with recruiting more members. All our activities need more people involved, but we do well considering,- Dave�s work with the wildlife garden and schools, CARGO and our website especially. Need to interact more with other green groups; CHEF [City of Hull and Humber Environment Forum] is organising some good events. National FOE website has not to been very user friendly, but improved lately. National Conference said to be a bit �Old Labour� in its organisation [ie heavy on procedure]

7. Priorities for next year: Council slow to take over green waste collection; we want to move on and do more partnership working with the Council on promoting other forms of recycling. Anti- incinerator campaign. Wind energy. Aim to have Green Fair in autumn.

8. AOB . Discussion about whether individuals can write letters to press on behalf of group. Agreed OK if we know it is in line with group�s agreed views; wise to check with at least 2 other members if any doubt. Otherwise write in own name only.

2. Waste/Incinerator campaign: 3000 postcards out, only 600 returned;- please get them back All . Hilary still to arrange Prospect Centre signing.
Art and Craft Fair 8th April Victoria Ave. Hilary, Debbie and Ian.
Card Signing on Holderness Road/ Balfour Street corner Sat. 22nd April 10.30 �3pm as many people as can please. Chrys to mount posters Hilary get them to her. Do national as well as local postcards where possible at above events.

3. Newsletter deadline next meeting All

4.Wind Energy: Agreed to sign up for wind energy campaign on National FOE web site [Haris?]. Agreed to support Croda�s planning application for a wind turbine on their site near Oak Road. Chrys to write on behalf of group. Promote idea of small wind generator on community centre at former grammar school, Cott Road when it gets established.

5. Hilary to find out what CHEF propose for Bike Week [17-25 June] and report next meeting.

6. Southcoates Lane issue thought to have been resolved.

7.CARGO: Still no news of when have to move from Lambert St or where to.

8.AOB: Regional Spacial Strategy: Comments needed by 13th April Haris[?] to respond. Tree planting at Barmston Drain/Lockwood St. Sunday 23rd April 10.30-12.30. Organised by Dave L. all welcome.

Next meeting:
Agreed to move regular meetings to this venue, more comfortable and welcoming and worth increase to �10 per evening.* Therefore Tuesday 2nd May 2006 8pm at Relax Caf� Newland Ave/Reynoldson St * Cost found to be actually �15 per evening.
