Shredder scheme risk assessment has been carried out. Thanks to Sheri-Leigh, a group of volunteers from Bishop Burton College were working on the scheme once a month. Chrys presented the monthly report: a record number of bags collected, another bid for funding submitted, records of quantities were being kept. A price increase (to 30p) was discussed. Chrys produced thank-you cards for the shops that carry the tags: A4 format, with golden string for hanging up, and a montage of photos showing collection and shredding, so they not only express thanks to Avenews, Clements, and Grain for their support, but also provide P.O.S. publicity. These were passed round for signing.
We were invited to lead the Bricknell Angels Parade (Friday 19 December) with the milk foat. Agreed that this would be good for publicity and networking with residents.
Alan Ts Tree Sculpture photos were admired.
Owl boxes: Alan will be putting them up. A cheque was made out.
Much discussion of two Green Fairs a year, and where to hold them. Carole and Hilary to check out venues. The Summer one provisionally agreed for Saturday 22 May 2004.
BCTV has contacted Carole: they have TYS funding for a project and invited collaboration and input (Carole to pursue contact, ask for a meeting). David reported progress on planting (another site identified behind Endeavour High School for plants in addition to the hedge). Haris reported the Heywoods event panned for 29 February 2004, and suggested integrating our plans into this.
A Hull Daily Mail article reported a Council Officer as saying if we hit the waste recycling target of 20% by 2005, it means we cant do more. Alan T to write and ask for clarification of this strange assertion.
