PHONE NUMBERS
Recently one digit was added for local phone numbers to a total o 8 digits. The digit added is the same as the area code (one digit for Mexico City) therefore to call Mexico City from anywhere in the worls the dialing remains the same (country code + city code + number), for example, to dial from the us:

                     011 52 5 555-1234

To dial that same number locally:

                     5555-1234
CELLULAR ROAMING
We have 4 mobile phone companies in Mexico City (Telcel, Iusacell, Pegaso and Unefon). Contact your cellular provider on roaming capabilities before you leave home.

You can rent a Cellular Phone per day or week. You can find this companies at the airport or at your hotel. One of the best known is RentaCel.
LONG DISTANCE DIALING
The national long distance access number is 01 if your call is within Mexico. For example, if you want to call Monterrey, NL you should dial the National long distance number + City Code + Number:

               01 8 333-1234

If you want to call other countries the International Long Distance access number is 00, therefore, if you want to call NY in the USA you should dial the long international long distance acces + Country Code + Area Code + Number:

              00 1 212 555-5555
LONG DISTANCE CALLING CARDS
If you have a long distance calling card from your local phone company you can dial from virtually any phone, but depending on your provider, if you wish to use a public phone you may still require a LADATEL card to access your provider local number.
