How to get to Hotels, what to expect at the airport, customs, Taxi and transportation |
Mexico City´s international airport (MEX for IATA) has only two active runways and
is one of the busiest in Latin America. MEX has nonstop flights to the main cities in South and Central America, US, Canadá and Europe. To travel from MEX to Asia or Africa chances are you will need to go to Los Angeles (LAX) or Europe. MEX is located at the east of the city and is actually within the city (the city grew arround and beyond the airport). Theres no space to grow this airport at all. Once you land it may take several minutes before the plane arrives to the gate (if any available) or a specialy designed bus comes and picks you up (the bus rises to the plane´s height and attaches to it so you never set a foot on the runway nor ramp). Once at the terminal getting your baggage, immigration and customs is usually faster than most us airports (Miami for example). Once outside PLEASE USE ONLY AIRPORT TAXIS. You can buy a ticket inside the airport (just mention your destination to the clerck and pay). Look for this taxis: You can verify the fare in advance by checking on the Airport Taxi web page. This Taxis are safer considering that travelers usually carry more money than average people. |
