Episode 18 – Looking To
the Future
– Honey got shot in the arm after she and Mercedes fought with each other.
Honey was okay, but was admitted to a hospital.
– Later Sebastian asked Mercedes to move to New York with him. She said
she needed to think about it and talked the proposition over with Divine.
– Chardonnay celebrated her birthday, with a job and a car from her
father. Later Leslie overheard Victor talking to Divine over the phone.
Monday,3rd February 2003, The
Samson Mansion, morning
“The pain seems to be getting
worse rather than better” Chardonnay Samson said as she gently rubbed
her left temple.
She had just taken two pills,
yet they hadn’t done the trick as well as she’d expected. In fact they hadn’t done
the trick at all. Chardonnay was now regretting all the drinks she had downed
the previous night. Most of them she hadn’t been able to turn down – after all
it was rude not to accept free things.
Nate Samson looked up at his sister blankly. One look at him and she
knew he hadn’t been listening to one word she had said since she entered the
room a couple of minutes ago.
“Doesn’t matter” Chardonnay
said, with a sigh. She watched him as he returned to gently playing with the
food on his plate.
“Morning” Leslie
greeted as she walked into the room.
“Mom!” Chardonnay complained. A
loud, cheerful voice didn’t help at a time like this.
Leslie walked over to the
counter and poured herself a mug of coffee. “Well you two seem very active this
morning”
Chardonnay groaned and Nate was
silent.
“Hangover?” Leslie asked,
noticing how pale her daughter was.
Chardonnay nodded. “I think
I’ll go back to bed” She stood up.
“You won’t be able to do that
when you are working” Victor
said from the doorway.
Chardonnay Ignored her father’s
statement and walked past him. At the foot of the stairs she saw Gabe,
but didn’t say anything to him either.
“That bad?” he asked.
“Worse” she answered.
“Morning” Victor said to Nate
and Leslie.
“Hello” Gabe greeted.
“Gabe, I didn’t see you there”
“Well Chardonnay needed someone
to drive her home and I couldn’t face driving back to my apartment when I got
here. You must think I am living here or something” Gabe said, slightly
defensive. He knew that Leslie and Victor were probably growing tired of having
him sleeping at their house every night.
“We don’t mind, you’re almost
family after all”
“I don’t know” Gabe said,
thinking of Divine.
“It is stupid to pay rent there
and to be sleeping here every night. And it isn’t as if we have a lack of space
or anything here, is it?”
“Victor, maybe he wants to be
independent?” Leslie said, shooting Gabe a glance.
Though she liked Gabe, enough
to sleep with him, Leslie didn’t want him living with her and more importantly
Victor. Anything that could jeopardise her unstable relationship with Victor,
or even worse her relationship with Chardonnay, had to be stopped.
“It’s up to you Gabe” Victor
said.
Gabe noticed the glance he was
getting from Leslie and smiled, feeling . “Okay then”
Leslie’s face fell, but Victor
was delighted.
“Great” he said.
“I’m off” Nate said as he stood
up and reached for his rucksack.
“Already, but it is only…”
Leslie began.
“I know, but I want to get over
to Kayla’s”
“Okay then” Leslie said. “See
you later”
Nate slipped the rucksack onto
his back and then left the room.
“He’s been very quiet lately,
hasn’t he?” Victor commented.
“I noticed that as well” Leslie
replied, still reeling from the news of Gabe’s impending moving in. She had to figure
out a way of stopping it.
“You don’t think it’s something
to do with school do you?” he asked.
“I don’t know, maybe its just
hormones”
“I think I know what it is”
Gabe interrupted.
“What?” Victor asked.
“A couple of weeks ago I was here
and I walked in on a kiss between him and a girl. I don’t know who she was
though”
Victor and Leslie started to
crowd him with questions about their son’s ‘girlfriend’. Meanwhile Nate had
just opened the front door and was surprised to see Kayla standing there.
“Hey” she said.
“Hi, I didn’t expect to see you
here”
“I thought I’d see how you all
were after last night”
“We’re all fine” Nate said,
with a certain coldness towards his cousin. He still hadn’t forgiven her
properly for her clash with Paris,
over the threats.
“Any more messages?”
“Yeah”
“You’re still annoyed at me for
the fight with Paris, aren’t you?”
Nate didn’t answer and instead
turned away to avoid her glance. Kayla put her hand on his shoulder.
“Please Nate, life is too short
for us to be fighting. You are like a brother to me and I don’t want to lose
you over Paris Robertson”

The Hospital Staff Room, lunchtime
It was the right thing to do.
No matter how much Judi
tried to deny it to herself, she knew that she had to end her fling with Russell.
Although he had been the first man she had loved in several years, he was
married and he would never leave Camille.
But a part of Judi couldn’t say goodbye to Russell.
Though she hadn’t seen very much of him in the past few weeks she was still
trying to frantically hold onto the fling. She loved him so much and that love
was the only thing preventing her from sending the message, asking him to meet
her so she could end it.
Judi had been staring at the phone for the last
five minutes and still she hadn’t sent it. She had pressed the buttons and made
out the message, but when it came to sending she couldn’t.
“Hi” came a voice from behind, interrupting
Judi’s thoughts.
“Hello” Judi said. Both were quiet as Carla
sat down opposite her at the small table. Carla spotted the sad expression on
Judi’s face and realised what was wrong almost immediately.
“It’s Russell, isn’t it?”
“I want to finish with him, but I can’t”
“You’re finishing with him?” asked a surprised
Carla.
“He‘ll never leave Camille and I can’t be so
dishonest, especially around Alex”
“Alex?”
“One of my patients. He is so nice and we have
been out once, but I felt so guilty because of Russell that I left him alone in
the bar”
“What is so difficult? Just finish with Russell
and then date Alex”
“It isn’t that simple. I love Russell and have
done for so long. I want to finish with him, believe me I’ve tried, but I don’t
think I can ever feel the same way for Alex as I already do for Russell. It’s
all such a mess”

Westside High School, A little later
“Nate
you have to do something about them” Kayla
said, referring to the threats, as she walked into the classroom ahead of her
cousin.
“Kayla” Nate sighed. “Please not again”
He was sick and tired of hearing Kayla telling
him what he should do.
“I’m only doing this for your own good. I’m
worried about you”
“Well don’t be”
“It is a bit difficult not to worry when you are
being threatened by someone whose identity we don’t know” Kayla answered.
“Hey, did you get anymore over the weekend?” Paris
interrupted the argument.
“Hi, yeah I got a few” Nate answered.
Kayla narrowed her eyes in hatred when she
spotted Paris. Paris noticed the look she was getting but tried her best to
ignore it and continue catching up with Nate. She wasn’t going to be upset by
Kayla.
“Any today?” Paris asked.
“Yeah, one this morning” Nate answered.
“Sorry to interrupt, but why don’t you just tell
your parents. You agree that he should tell them, don’t you Paris?” Kayla
asked.
“Well I…” Paris began, but Nate interrupted.
“Kayla we’ve already been over this and I said
no. Just drop it. I wish I hadn’t told any of you now” Nate said, angrily. He
turned away from the two girls.
“Nate, maybe it would be for the best” Paris said,
placing her hand on his shoulder.
“No, I can’t. They will only worry and they
nearly split up at Christmas. I can’t tell them”
“Your sister then”
“Chardonnay? She has so many changes happening in her life.
I can’t spring it on her”
Kayla interrupted once again, this with an
ultimatum.
“Nate either you tell Leslie
and Victor
or I do” she said. Nate turned around and looked at her.
“What?” he asked, in disbelief as to what his
cousin had just said.
“If you don’t tell them by the end of this week
then I will”

Mercedes’ Apartment, Same Time
Mercedes Spencer pulled
open the door to her apartment. She smiled as she saw Sebastian del Caro standing in front of
her.
“Have you decided?” he asked.
“Yes” Mercedes answered.
“And?”
“Yes, I will go to New York with you”
“That’s great” Sebastian said. They shared an
embrace.
“What made you say yes?” he asked as he pulled
away from her.
“I don’t know. I just knew it was right” she
said.
