History: Season 1: We first saw Divine in the
strip club, where Mercedes was shocked to see her old friend. Later it was discovered
that Divine and Mercedes had spent time on the streets in New York together,
working as prostitutes. Divine was having an affair
with Victor, who was puzzled when she asked to go to Chardonnay and Gabe’s
engagement party. He agreed that she could go, but she had to keep away from
his family. At the engagement party
Divine introduced herself to a suspicious Leslie and Chardonnay. She and
Gabe, her other lover, were planning to rob the Samson family of their money,
but they didn’t get a chance to put their plan into action as Divine was
pushed down the stairs by a mysterious figure. Divine survived the fall down
the stairs, though she was in a coma for over two weeks and woke up on
Christmas Day 2002, and while she was in hospital Victor made her homeless,
telling her that their relationship was over and that she had to move out of
his penthouse. Divine moved in with Gabe. When asked by the police if
it was an accident or if she was pushed Divine lied, telling them that it was
an accident. As time passed Mercedes and Divine grew closer, as Mercedes got
Divine her job back (Sebastian had sacked her as she didn’t turn up for her
first day of work when she was in a coma). Divine supported Mercedes after
her trauma with Honey. At Gabe’s apartment Divine
realised that she’d left some of her clothes back at the penthouse. She
called Victor and he said that she could take them. She did, but got a phone
call from a mysterious person, and unknowingly revealed her plans to Leslie,
who was hiding in the bedroom. Leslie lured Divine into a
trap, pretending to be Victor and asking Divine to meet him at the penthouse.
Divine fell for the bait and Leslie drugged her, using some cocaine with
drugs in it. Leslie talked to herself and it was discovered that she
was the one who had pushed Divine down the stairs. Leslie set the penthouse
on fire and we were left wondering whether Divine was alive or not.
