town with Sebastian and also left with him. She met him while working on the
streets as a prostitute, with Divine Cassidy, and he thought that she would
be a good stripper. They moved and he set up his strip club, with Mercedes
spending a few years working there. She and Sebastian slept together,
the first man she’d been with since giving up her life on the streets, but
later she rejected him. Sebastian didn’t get the picture and continued to
pursue Mercedes, though she tried to keep him at bay. Mercedes has done drugs in
the past, but has never been addicted and doesn’t use them any more. She and
her mother haven’t always gotten on, and being thrown out on the streets by
her mother is what led Mercedes into prostitution, Nicknames: Sometimes

History: Season 1: Mercedes was first seen in
episode one, as Sebastian made a pass at her. She rejected him, but the kiss
was seen by someone. Later Mercedes was shocked to learn that the newest
addition to the team was Divine Cassidy, one of her old allies from the New
York streets. Over Christmas Mercedes went
to her mother’s in New York. When she returned, she was surprised to learn
that Divine had never showed up for her first day at work and went to
investigate. She found Divine at a penthouse and the talked about the past. During this time Sebastian
had been continuing to try and bed Mercedes. Unaware to Mercedes or
Sebastian, there was someone else who liked Sebastian and wanted him to help
her improve her career – Honey Richards. Honey saw what was going on between
Mercedes and Sebastian, but misread it and thought that they were a couple.
Honey planned to shoot Mercedes. Despite several setbacks,
including Elektra figuring out what Honey was planning to do, Honey did try
and shoot Mercedes. But luckily she tripped and Mercedes shot her in the arm
while they were fighting for control of the gun. After this incident Mercedes
wasn’t sure about her future at the club, but Sebastian offered her the
chance to move back to New York with him. After much soul searching, she
agreed. Before the left for New York, Mercedes and Sebastian became closer
and even became a couple. They left town together, waved off by Divine,
Elektra and other strippers.
