NATIONAL PARK
On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, there is a Bug
Catching Contest. To enter all you have to do is talk with the guard standing by
the door at the entrance. You can only take one Pok�mon with you to
battle the wild Bug Pok�mon, the rest will be held for you until the contest is
over. You will get 20 Park Balls and have 20 minutes to capture the
Pok�mon. However, you may quit at anytime.
Whenever you catch more than one Pok�mon in this contest, you'll be asked
whether you want to switch it with the first one you caught. If not, your Pok�dex
will still record that you caught that Pok�mon, you just won't get to keep it.
To win the tournament you need to capture a high level Pok�mon like Scyther or
Pinsir or Butterfree. The 1st place winner receives a Sun Stone, the 2nd place
winner a everstone and the 3rd place winner a Gold berry.
Before you leave, make sure that you talk to the girl on the bench inside of the
National Park and she'll give you Quick Claw. Quick Claw will usually let
the Pok�mon carrying it attack first in battle.
Exit the National Park and go back to the routehouse between Goldenrod and Route 35.
Talk to the guard and he will give you a Spearow with Mail for a
guy on Route 31. Deliver it and receive TM50 Nightmare. This is a very useful TM
that you can teach to a ghost-type Pok�mon.
Keep heading north until you reach Ecruteak City.
