Part 8 - Compose

This tab sets how Xnews composes new messages.

Xnews Setup - Compose

Word Wrap options

The column at which text is wrapped is set here.

Compose Options

Automatically Rewrap Quoted Text: this makes Xnews re-format text that is quoted from the post you are replying to. Re-formatting is often required because Outlook Express is unable to handle quoted text properly.
Keep Copies of Sent Messages: These are stored in the 'sent' folder (Folder|Sent).

Custom Headers

Custom header information can be entered in this box. Put a '*' before the header information to make the header appear by default. 'X-Face' information can be entered here.

Follow Up

Use these options to set how attributions appear in Xnews. 'Follow-Up' is the one that will appear on Usenet articles. The other two options are for replying/forwarding by e-mail.

External Editor

Xnews can use an external editor to compose messages. Use the [...] button to browse to the location of your preferred editor. To use an external editor by default, check the tick box. If this option is selected, Xnews will automatically start the editor when you select 'follow-up', and the text will be displayed. When you've finished writing, save the file, and the text will be automatically imported back into Xnews.

Use MDI

Check this box if you want Xnews's editor to appear as another window within the main program window (Multiple Document Interface). Otherwise Xnews's editor runs as a separate program (i.e. it appears on the Windows task-bar) (Single Document Interface).
