SIDEBAR: Looking Back

CYA-PUP was formed in 1991, when I was a freshman student. Alex Filamor and Elma Requiron-Hogar were the pioneers of this group. Ms. Zenaida Santos was already serving CYA as the adviser. Most of the members that time were her students who were freshmen Psychology students. I joined CYA when I was already in my third year in 1993. I was not able to be with the Psych students because when they entered their third year they became very busy with their studies. It was like CYA-PUP is starting again at that time. The new batch of members were us, the Computer Engineering students. There were also students from other courses who joined like Yeng, Tina & Jojo from Banking & Finance, but the COE brothers and sisters continue to grow.
In 1995 we were very happy that the BS Math students who joined became active members of CYA. One of them is Efren who continues to serve us until now. Right now, the Accounting students composes the biggest part of our group. Many of them are serving us and leading different teams of CYA-PUP.
I am really glad to see how CYA-PUP has grown not only in number but also in our love for God and for one another. Many people have been inspired and evangelized by the way we relate to one another because they see and experience genuine brotherhood and sisterhood in us.
I want to honor all of you, brothers and sister. You have been a joy and inspiration to me as I serve in CYA. I have seen commit your lives to Jesus. I have seen your joy and struggles in following Him. I have seen your difficulties & victories in living out your Christian life. I have seen your faithfulness to our Lord. Let us continue to run the race and fight the good fight of faith! For I am confident that He who began a good work in us will be faithful to complete it until the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
