Caretaker

by Ana Rhodara Grey

Have you heard of the word "caretaker"? I'm positively sure that all of us heard it, we also know their ultimate responsibility. They are people entitled to take good care of something, to free it from any harm. In the office where I'm working, our caretaker is Mang Ernesto. I don't know much about him. The only thing I know was, he did all the petty jobs there because he simply hold the materials in the building, the keys, rags and everything.

One day, I saw him crying, so I approached him and asked him. To my enormous surprise, he was crying because the other rag near the building's entrance was gone. Cheezzzzz! Just because of the rag this man really looked so depressed. After that scene, I came to realize something, that a caretaker is much concerned about that thing. He learned to love everything around him. He won't let it get ruin. He is taking good care of it.

We, brothers and sisters has only one caretaker in life. He knows everything about us. He reads our minds, holds the keys in us, lets us borrow things from Him and knows the desires of our hearts. The caretaker --- Jesus Christ. Like what Mang Ernesto did, he cried when the rag was gone. God also intensely cries aloud when one of us is gone. We may think sometimes that we are unworthy, simply an ordinary thing in other's eye. But in Him we are precious & important because He loves us very much. Mang Ernesto may ask for a replacement on what had been lost from him, but the Lord don't want replacement instead He is even willing to give up His own life to set us free and be worthy again. Our "Caretaker" is always there, not wasting even a single minute to let us go astray. We must also possess these characters of God. Let us not allow it to get ruined, to be hurt. And most especially, because we just borrowed this life to the "True & Real Caretaker." Let's make sure that we are doing our very best to keep it away from any harm & tragedy. And when that time comes, when we will all return the life we borrowed from Him, it is still in good form --- not broken, not even torn or crumpled.
