Life in Infanta

by Joylyn "Jhoy" Lazaga

Ma'am, aral na po tayo.""Ate , laro naman tayo!" Soft voice of lovely little children Very gentle to my ears.

Infanta Summer Outreach 2001, a great experience will never forget. April 19, the day we left Manila was also my first day in Infanta. Taking an almost fine hours ride with my beautiful sisters was very much cool. Viewing the wonderful creation of God makes me feel very special to Him. After how may hours of sitting , talking and sleeping , at least , I was able to step on the ground of bgy. Libjo where we stay for two weeks. Yes! Fourteen days of living on his very inspiring place to communicate with God.

What's on the list? Catechism, house visit, voter's education, music lesson, livelihood projects and medical mission - services seem interesting. How abow househood chores? Outing/Fellowship? That would be exciting! What can I say about Prayer time? -Very inspiring.

Teaching kids with ages three to five was very much challenging and heart warming. Challenging because my patience was tested enough in dealing with them especially with my first three days. Some with fight and then will cry. Others will run and play while were teaching. But then I realized, they were just little boys and girls and I had too had experienced being a kid. Like what I've learned, they also need love and care and someone who will guide them as they grow, that's why I did my best for them to feel that they are special to me and to the people around them especially their families. Heart warming because I've seen their willingness to learn and the frits of it. I can't forget a five year old girl who share this to me - "Ate, ako'y wala pong baon pagkat kami'y mahirap lamang. And tatay ko'y nagbayo ng palay para kami'y may maisaing at binibigyan lang po kami ng ulam, kung hindi nama'y niluluto nila yung tanim kong patola. "I almost cried when I heard this. Imagine, a young girl like her who doesn't even know what a hundred peso bill looks like is aware of these things. But I hid it 'coz I need to comfort her and give her some inspiring words. Hugs and kisses, I really felt their sweetness. I really treasure the times of teaching them how to pray for I know that they are true on what they saying and feel.

We visited some houses on this barangay. I had a nice time talking with the parents, asking them on what they do for their living. We even shared them about welcoming Christ in their family life. Aside from this, we also imparted some knowledge of wise voting. We went to Brgy. Pilaway through the help of Fr. Mario Establecida and asked them about what they feel for this 2001 National election.

As part of our outreach, we held a Medical and Central Mission to help the people of Brgy. Libjo especially those who can't afford to go to the hospital and buy medicines at their own expense. Thank God for there are many volunteers who helped us for this event.

Doing household chores was made easy for me. Why? Assignments are well organized, sisters are very willing to help and serve one another and everything that we do, we offer it to God and so we came up with our best.

To beat the heat of the summer we went to Alderico Resort. We had our exciting pool games and swimming lessons. It was also our time being together, sharing ideas and plans for the future. I really experienced the bonding of not just sisterhood but the friendship as well. I thank the Lord for meeting these kind of people, very sincere, loving, caring and real servants of God. I've learned so much from the sharings of my sisters during meal time. I laughed and cried with them. They had inspired me well to serve and love the Lord more.

I want to end this with a paragraph of sharing the best thing that happened to me during my stay in Infanta-my prayer time. Like what I always say, I am really inspired to pray and to listen to Him. Being close with the nature, wow! You will really experience the presence of God. With so much inspirations around you, you will really give your all to worship Him. ISO 2001, an experience that molded me to become a more beautiful person and a daughter of God. Thank you. For this wonderful experience!!!
