Certain People are a Joy to Know
by Nerissa "Neren" de Romas
I can still remember this poem which goes:
"People who know how to brighten a day
With a heart-warming smile & with kind words they say,
People who know how to gently impart
The comfort in takes to cheer somebody's heart..."
Certainly, it's the PUP brothers & sisters whom I remember as I recite this poem. Though life has been a stride for me, still I can take time to laugh & smile because I've got brothers and sisters who would cheer me up. I learned not to feel over burdened with my concerns; instead, I laugh a little After all, I have a God, who is always at my side. He sent these people to support me and encourage me.
"People who know how to always come through,
When there's anything they can possibly do.
People who know how to willingly share,
Who how to give and who know how to care..."
There was no moment I remember that these people turned me down when I ask for help. They are like batteries - Eveready na, Energizer pa! Especially, in extending their help to support me personally. They are very committed and generous of their time in reaching out and proclaim God's love and faithfulness (kahit nga exams at projects eh di sila mahaharangan). I have witnessed how God works through them, in so many ways they shared their resources, their heart, and their life to others.
"...People who know how to let their warm feeling show..."
Actually, it's a gift I can say that they possess this character of allowing one another to realize their importance in one's life - of valuing a person, most especially in my Action Group (AG is a small sharing group of CYA). May it be in simple notes or a phone call? When they tell you that they prayed for you, when they console you if you're not feeling okay, and when they take time to honor you even if there's no occasion. Well, it surely makes a difference when there are people who made you realize that you're loved and you're worth something, "Sabi nga nila eh, di ka basta-basta."
To you my brothers and sisters, it is also true "na hindi kayo basta-basta." You're very valuable not only to me, but also most especially in God's eyes. The times that I've spent with you mean a lot to me. For helping me in so many ways that you allow me to see God and experience Him tangibly. In your youthfulness, you decided to offer your life to GOD & serve Him - your passion in this mission in which all of us are called, compels me to be zealous also. True enough, you did inspired me to love Him all the more & serve Him in the best way I can.
"...Are people that others feel blessed to know."
Keep up the good work and may you continue to be a blessing to all those people you will meet! And as you bless them, you will also be blessed! For God said, " for whatever you did to the least of your brethren, you did it unto me." Thank you brothers & sisters, I will surely miss you. I love you all! God bless...
