The Bookshire Sonic Fan Fiction Multiverse-Continuum!

The Early Years | Season One Stories | Season Two Stories | Countdown to Doomsday | "Season Three" Stories | Later Stories | "The Joseph Saga" | "The Knothole Chronicles"

The Bookshire Multiverse: A collection of Sonic fan fiction (mostly written in the early days of the Sonic internet fandom) set in the world of Sonic SatAM. Individually, the stories vary in quality, from excellent to mediocre. Taken as a whole, it is among my favorite fan fiction series.

Like the Archie Sonic comic, it took the SatAM mythos and added new characters and adventures, really fleshing out the world of Mobius. Unlike Archie, it always remained consistent with SatAM. The authors of the various stories that comprise the Bookshire Saga even managed a surprising level of consistency from one story to another.

There are some inconsistencies, though, which I've made note of here. Small inconsistencies (such as those between individual stories) are noted in the "Timeline" reference under the story description. Larger inconsistencies (such as branching storylines, and entire sagas inconsistent with one-another) shall be separated into "tables".

...Those familiar with the Bookshire Multiverse will note I've included not only "Universe 1" & "Universe 2", but the "Knothole Chronicles" and other stories.

So, what makes a "Bookshire story", in my opinion?

Rule #1: The story must be consistent with SatAM, and not obviously based on a different Sonic continuity. This means that any characters or events from continuities other than SatAM must be treated as "new", and given a reasonable introduction/recap. It also means, of course, that no characters or events may contradict characters & events established in SatAM.
Rule #2: All characters, whether cannon or fan-created, must be in-character.
Rule #3: The story must be readable (sentences, paragraphs, punctuation, & grammar must be used reasonably.)
Rule #3: The story must be PG-13 at maximum -- that is, no excessive language or violence, and no blatant sexual content.
Rule #5: Finally, the story should be either written by someone whose works are featured on Bookshire's site, or include characters created by those authors.

Finally, before we get down to the stories, I'd like to thank all the authors of the works on this page... Especially the ones who encouraged the reproduction of their work-- without them I'd never have thought to create this page! Also, I'd like to thank the various webmasters whose sites I shamelessly lifted these stories from, especially Serinthia Draftwood, who actually knows about this page and is okay with it... :D

    Timeline: 5/13/3224

  5. Dan Drazen's Sonic Kids Trilogy

    The Sonic Kids Trilogy

    By Dan Drazen

Dan Drazen's answer to the question, "What were the Freedom Fighters like when they were growing up in Knothole after the fall of Mobotropolis?"

Timeline: 3229 - 3231 (NOTE: These stories are inconsistent with the origin of Tails presented in Draftwood's "Tails' Tale" and followed in several other stories in this Universe.)

    • "Capture the Flag" by Dan Drazen

      Chapters 1-3Chapters 4-6Chapters 7-9Chapters 10-12

The kids play a game of "Capture the Flag", then go on a dangerous rescue mission to Robotropolis. Rated G.

      Timeline: 3229

    • "First Honor" by Dan Drazen

The Knothole kids are planning something for the Mobian version of Mother's Day but Sonic doesn't want any part of it. Rated PG, for a disturbing scene.

      Timeline: Spring of 3230.

    • Grow Up! by Dan Drazen

As the Knothole kids physically grow up, they must mentally grow up as well.

      Timeline: 3231

  6. "Bunnie Rabbot" by Serinthia Draftwood

    How Bunnie became a Rabbot.

    Timeline: Sometime between 3230 & 3232.

  7. "Tails' Tale" by Serinthia Draftwood

Timeline: The main story takes place when tails is seven (in 3232; after "Bunnie Rabbot").

  8. "Nano-Wars" by Michael Szal

Robotnik attempts to destroy all life on Mobius, using nanites. The Freedom Fighters are helpless against this attack. But don't write Mobius off just yet...

Timeline: Early 3233, after "Bunnie Rabbot" and "Tails' Tale". (Tails is 8.)

Season One

  1. "Merry Christmas" by Serinthia Draftwood

The people of Mobius celebrate the Winter Solstice (here referred to as "Christmas"). Even Packbell gets into the Solstice spirit! Well, sort of...

    Timeline: December of 3234.

  2. "Tolouse's Story" (Chapters 3 & 4) by Kris Kelly

As the years pass, the Mobian refugees survive as best they can in the Great Forest. But young Tolouse wants to do more than survive-- he wants to become a Freedom Fighter.

Timeline: Begins where Chapters 1 & 2 ended, ends after the main body of "Tails' Tale".

  3. "Run With the Fox" by Kris Kelly

Tolouse goes on his first mission, and Robotnik revives the ancient game of "the Hunt".

  4. "Ransom" by John Wainscott

Robotnik takes Tails' friend Nina captive. Chapter One of the Knothole Chronicles.

Timeline: March, 3235. NOTE #1: Although the text lists this as taking place in "June", it takes place a month before "April Fools".
NOTE #2: The fact that this story was written as taking place before Doomsday is rather odd, considering that Nina's introduction story, "the Seminar", takes place after Doomsday.

  5. "April Fools" by John Wainscott

The Knothole Villagers play pranks on each other. Chapter Two of the Knothole Chronicles.

Timeline: April 1st, 3235 (3 weeks after "Ransom")

  7. "The Storm" by Serinthia Draftwood

The Freedom Fighters, Packbell, Robotnik, and Sandra Nightweaver must all brace themselves for a worldwide hurricane of intense proportions. They each deal with it in their own way and have a couple near death experiences along the way.

Timeline: May 12, 3235 (NOTE: Although this story works much better as a season two story, it's mention of Todd prior to Doomsday places it squarely in the middle of "On My Mother's Grave"-- which itself takes place before "Nothing for Granted", a season one story...)

  8. "On my Mother's Grave" Part Two by Kris Kelly & Craig Fox

When Tails is kidnapped, Todd's the first to go and rescue him...will he come back?

Timeline: Two weeks after Part One. Ends on May 24, 3235, according to "Reawakenings"

  9. "Tails' Tale" by Serinthia Draftwood

Timeline: Bookends take place in early summer, three years after the main story.

  10. "Nothing for Granted" by Kris Kelly

A lone wolf named Sebastien stumbles upon the city of Nilreb, a city Robotnik has big plans for...

Timeline: Sometime after "On my Mother's Grave", prior to the episode "Sonic Boom".

  11. "Ill Will" by Serinthia Draftwood

Tails is sick, and now he's been captured by Robotnik! Can Sonic save him before either Robotnik ends Tails' natural life, or Tails' condition ends it period?

Timeline: Possibly after the episode "Sonic Boom". (Ironlock Prison is mentioned.)

Season Two, Part 1 -- The Battle Continues

Timeline: "Between Cry of the Wolf" & "Drood Henge"

  6. "The Neutralizer" by Holly-Beth Kraft

Sonic & Tails go on a mission to retrieve a vital part for the Deroboticizer

    Timeline: Just after "Drood Henge".

  7. "Pangolin Problems" by Michael Szal

    Timeline: After Drood Henge.

  8. "Bunnie's Bad Day" by Holly-Beth Kraft

It's Bunnie's sixteenth birthday, and Robotnik has a present for her that she won't soon forget.

    Chapters 1-3Chapters 4-6Chapters 7-9Chapters 10-12 Afterword

A true classic! Bunnie gets her tail saved by a stranger who is a key to Sally's past... Dan Drazen's debut fanfic, this story also established Drazen's reputation as one of the greatest Sonic fanfic writers. Chapters 1-11 rated G, chapter 12 rated PG-13 for one controversial scene.

Timeline: After "Cry of the Wolf" in the SatAM continuity, after Issue 17 in the Archie continuity.

  10. "The Temporal Syndrome" by Shawn Wolski

When Robotnik discovers an ancient alien weapon, it may spell the end for Mobius...

(Click here to skip the Prologue.)

    Timeline: Before "The Doomsday Project"

  11. "A Matter of Trust" by Dan Drazen

    Part OnePart Two

Sonic runs into an old friend, but that friendship is sorely tested. Rated PG for one violent death.

    Timeline: Before "The Doomsday Project"

  12. "The Power of Love" by Serinthia Draftwood and Morgan Ingersoll

Can Bunnie and Rotor admit their love for one another?

    Timeline: Before "The Doomsday Project"

  13. "Space Case" by Dan Drazen

Someone or something has put a major crimp in Robotnik's operation. What does a mysterious young stranger know about it? And what other secrets might he be guarding? Rated PG.

Timeline: After "A Matter of Trust"

  14. "The Body in Question" by Dan Drazen

Bunnie is subjected to an experimental deroboticizing process but something goes wrong. VERY wrong! Rated PG for discussion and depiction of a naked furry...

    Timeline: After "The Void"

  15. "Sir Kain's Story" by Eric Goodwin

An Earthling named Eric finds himself transported to Mobius. Yeah, it's self-insertion, but it's well done.

    Timeline: Before "The Doomsday Project"

  16. "Homecoming" by Dan Drazen

It's Good News/Bad News when Sabina, Dulcy's "Ma", shows up at Knothole one day. The good news is: Dulcy is being reunited with her family; the bad news is: she may never be able to return to Knothole if she does.

Timeline: After "Blast to the Past", Before "The Doomsday Project"

  17. "Runaway" by Dan Drazen

    Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3

Sonic rescues a young Mobian from danger, but he makes the lives of the Freedom Fighters more complicated. But things don't REALLY start happening until they take the youngster home to his parents. Dan gave it an R, but I think it could pass for PG-13 (Contains some strong language, and non-graphic depiction of naked furrys).

Timeline: Before "The Doomsday Project". NOTE: This story is mildly inconsistent with the fate of Bunnie's family implied in the Joseph Saga.

Season Two, Part 2 -- Countdown to Doomsday

  1. "The Newcomer" by Ryan Huber

Robotnik's continuing experiments with time & space transport result in another human being transported to Mobius. (Self Insertion.) "The Ryan Saga" Part One.

Timeline: 2 months before Doomsday. After "Sir Kain's Story".

  2. "Tricks of the Trade" by Ryan Huber

Ryan teams up with Sandra Nightweaver again. This time, she takes it upon herself to educate Ryan in the ways of her profession, when a run in with Packbell changes everything. "The Ryan Saga" Part Two.

    Timeline: Immediately following "The Newcomer".

  3. "Keeping the Faith" by Ryan Huber

Ryan spends the next few days dealing with the knowledge imparted to him by Sandra Nightweaver, while conducting experiments with his new body and still dealing with the prejudiced minds of certain Freedom Fighters. "The Ryan Saga" Part Three.

Timeline: A week after "Tricks of the Trade"

  4. "Vixen in the Labyrinth" by Holly-Beth Kraft

The freedom fighters must escape from Robotnik's labyrinth with a little help from some new friends.

Timeline: Shortly before "The Doomsday Project"

  5. "Starship Down" by Joseph DeLaCroix

An alien fox by the name of Joseph makes a pit-stop on Mobius. Yes, it's another self-insertion story. It's also the prelude to a novel-length fanfic...

Timeline: After "Bloodlines" and not long before "The Doomsday Project"

  6. "Transition" by Kevin Heller

Yet another human is transported to Mobius-- and he doesn't cope with it very well. An extremely well written tale-- one of my favorites. Incidentally, this is NOT a self-insertion story.

Timeline: The main story takes place between "Starship Down" and "The Doomsday Project". The narration, however, takes place about 1 year later.

  7. "Ring of Truth" by Joseph DeLaCroix

As Joseph settles in on Mobius, he makes startling discoveries about both his past and that of Mobius.

Timeline: A few weeks after "Starship Down", a few days before "The Doomsday Project"

  8. "This Island Floating" by Joseph DeLaCroix

Joseph encounters Knuckles the Echidna -- who's feeling a little out of sorts... Rated PG-13 for violence.

Timeline: The day before "The Doomsday Project".

"Season Three"

  1. "The Seminar" by Holly-Beth Kraft

As the rebuilding after Doomsday begins, the Freedom Fighters put together a seminar.

    Timeline: After "The Doomsday Project"

    Timeline: After "The Seminar"

  3. "Alicia" by Pat Carson Jr.

"Lemonade" | "Alicia" | "If I only had a Heart"

Rotor wants to build another android, but Sally's not so sure that's a good idea.

Timeline: After "My Brother's Keeper", before "Everything Changes". (Just ignore the fact that Joseph is described as a fox.)

Later Stories

At this point, the story branches considerably...
  1. "Of Foxes And Sorcery" by Aaron Lye

Timeline: After the creation of David, during the reign of Snively.

  3. One year ends, and another begins...

    The Joseph Saga

When an alien attack force threatens Mobius, only the prophesied hero "Solaris" can save the planet!

    The Ryan Saga: Finale

    • Part 4: "Silent Night" by Ryan Huber

Ryan's first Christmas on Mobius. As the Freedom Fighters celebrate the season, Ryan's thoughts turn to another who will be alone for Christmas...

Timeline: Christmas of 3235. (The same Solstice-Season as Chapters 2 to 6 of the Joseph Saga... but quite inconsistent with it.)

    • "Reawakenings" By Bookshire Draftwood & Craig Fox

One year after Todd's death, Tails is agonizing over the death of his friend. David Prower can't stand to see his "brother" this way, and decides to do something about it...

      Timeline: May 24, 3236

    • Part 5: The Other Side by Ryan Huber

Packbell's revived his neural uploading experiment and now, after a few modifications, he's got his sights set on Ryan for a test subject.

Timeline: Six months after "Silent Night"... Thus placing it in June, 3236.

  4. The Knothole Chronicles

    The Knothole Chronicles

Several years later, the war with Packbell continues.

Timeline: Spring of 3237 to Spring of 3238. NOTE: At the beginning of the saga, a successful deroboticizer has yet to have been constructed, and a way has yet to have been found to allow the inhabitants of the Void to return to Mobius

  5. "Transition" by Kevin Heller

Yet another human is transported to Mobius-- and he doesn't cope with it very well. (Same as above.)

Timeline: The main story takes place between "Starship Down" and "The Doomsday Project". The narration, however, takes place after the fall of Robotnik & the King's return.

  6. "As the Wheel Turns" by Aaron Lye

    As the Wheel Turns

    by Aaron Lye

When Mobius joins the Union of Allied Worlds, several races secede from the "Federated Races" and start a civil war. (Incomplete)

Timeline: Ten years after the fall of Snively. Makes reference to "Of Foxes And Sorcery".

  7. "She Knew That The Hand Was Upon Her" by Dan Drazen

A touching tale of Queen Sally's passing.

Timeline: Several decades later. NOTE: Sally said to have only had one child in this future... and Bunnie was "never succesfully deroboticized".
