The goal of this project was to design a poster reflecting a cause of my choosing. I decided to focus on hearing loss prevention, with my target audience being concertgoers between the ages of 18–40. As a way of engaging with this audience, I decided to use suggestive shapes and imagery in the design. The end goal was to make the viewer do a double take, as they walked by the poster at an event. This was achieved by using the design principles of repetition, proportion, and movement. I also used contrast between the earplug and the ear, as this forces the eye to start at the bottom and move up through the design.
I completed this project using a combination of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Following peer feedback, there was a suggestion to use a different font for the title, but I thought the inline font was appropriate for the design. All ethical, cultural, and social interpretations have been considered, and no compromises were necessary to achieve the final suggestive vision for the poster. This piece was selected for my portfolio as it displays my ability to engage a specific target audience with selective visuals.
