The best fishing town in Washington

Near the bottom of this page is a couple of links to the Washington State Fish and Wildlife Commission and the Fish & Wildlife Enforcement Division. The Wildlife Commission page has information about the Public Hearings and Meetings. Please get involved with the Fish & Wildlife Commission hearings and meetings to protect our famous resources. It helps everyone by voicing your opinion. We have to save the fish & wildlife habitat. The water and the trees are necessary to provide us with good air and good water to drink.

One of the nicest murals I have seen in a long time. Had to take this picture and post it here for you to see. This picture must depict the Chinook Indians that used to inhabit this area. I like the town of Ilwaco. The people living and working in this town are really nice people.

Looking southwest towards Buoy 10. I like fishing Buoy 10 on opening day. On opening day you can almost walk across the Columbia River from the State of Washington to the State of Oregon from boat to boat. There are hundreds of boats between the Buoy 10 and the Astoria bridge. You really have to be careful on the outgoing tide. The Columbia River does run fast through this area and there are a lot of boats to run over your line and make you lose your favorite lure. You could crash into another boat if you are not careful.

A lucky survivor of Buoy 10. My fishing and boating experience helped me to survive the Buoy 10 experience. The Columbia River, near Buoy 10, has claimed the lives of over 700 people in little boats and big boats since they started recording the fatalities. Most fatalities occured by the boater hitting the sandbar and flipping over, so if you do go there to fish Buoy 10 on opening day, please be careful at low tide. This shirt is over seven years old but I do have some stories to tell about that years' fishing experience.
