Sonic X, which first aired in Japan on 6th April 2003, is a 52 episodes long anime series. It follows the adventures of Sonic and co. who are warped into a different world during a battle involving the Chaos Emeralds with Dr. Eggman. On this new planet, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy Rose and Cream (with Cheese of course) make friends with a lonely human boy named Chris. However, Eggman decides to take over this planet and create the Eggman Empire, and begins to cause trouble with his robotic minions.

Sonic X was first shown in the US in a 'sneak preview' on the Foxbox channel on 23rd August 2003, and the series started properly on Septemper 6th. The English dub was done by 4Kids Entertainment (who also dubbed Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh! etc.), as opposed to the Japanese version who use the same voice actors as those from the Sonic games (e.g. Sonic Adventure, Japanese dub). In the UK, Sonic X was first shown on ITV on the 21st January 2004, and later on the Fox Kids channel.
