Fishing Tools

Fishing Net
Shrimp, Anchovies, and Frog spawn*.
Note: You can fish with a Small Fishing Net in: Catherby Shore, Karamja Dock, Draynor Village, and (members-only) Lumbridge Swamp cave/dungeon.

Fishing Rod
Sardine, Herring, Pike, Slimey eel*, and Cave eel*.
Notes: You can fish with Fishing Rod in: Catherby Shore, Karamja Dock, Draynor Village, Ardougne River, Lumby River, Barbarian Village, Al-Kharid, Shilo Village, north side of the Seer's Village Lake, Mort Myre Swamp*, and Lumbridge Swamp cave/dungeon*.

Fly Fishing Rod
Trout and Salmon
Notes: You can fish with Fly Fishing Rod in: Ardougne River, Lumby River, Barbarian Village, and north side of the Seer's Village Lake.

Big Fishing Net*
Caskets, Seaweed, Gloves, Boots, Oyster, Mackerel, Cod, Bass. and Oyster.
Notes: You can fish with Big Fishing Net in: Fishing Guild and Catherby Shore

Harpoon
Tuna, Swordfish and Shark
Notes: You can fish with Harpoon in: Fishing Guild, Catherby Shore, Karamja Dock and Brimhaven

Lobster Pot
Lobsters(duh)
Notes: You can fish with a Lobster Pot in: Fishing Guild, Catherby Shore, Karamja Dock and Brimhaven

Trawler Fishing Mini-game*
This is the only way for high level fishermen to catch Sea Turtles and Manta Rays
Notes: You need 50-60 Swamp paste, a Bailing bucket, and 6-10 Rope in order to Trawler fish. It's most fun if you go with a group of friends, though it makes the game harder. If the Trawler sinks you will not die, nor will you lose any of your stuff. Just climb aboard a Barrel and you will automatically swim for the shoreline below Port Sarim, and take about 3-5 hp damage. You can fish with a Trawler Net in Port Khazard This is what you can catch with it: Any saltwater fish up to your fishing level; assorted items such as Seaweed that are obtained by Big net fishing

Oily Fishing Rod*
Lava Eels
Notes: The Oily Fishing Rod is NOT tradeable. It is only used in Hero's Quest for catching Lava Eel.
You fish with Oily Fishing Rod in Taverley Dungeon.

Karambwan vessel*
Karambwans
Notes: Must have begun the Tai Bwo Wannai Trio Quest to learn how to fish for Karambwans. The vessel requires bait: the rainbow-colored Raw karambwanji fish, which is caught using a small fishing net in the brook well south of Tai Bwo Wannai village. Note that Karambwanji are untradeable. You fish with a Karambwan vessel at the fishing spots far north of the crashed glider on Karamja.

Additional Information
Fishing Guild: You need Fishing 68 to enter, 65 Fishing with a Fishing Potion.

Lava Eel *
You need Oily Fishing Rod to catch it. You need level 25 Herblore to make the Oily potion; talk to Gerrant (Port Sarim fishing shop) to get info about it. Taverley Dungeon is in Taverley. Take an Anti-Dragon Breath Shield with you, you will need to pass Dragons to get to the fishing spot. You also must kill a Jailguard to arrange to get a Dusty key to the Dragon room with Blue Dragons and Baby Blue Dragons.

Random Events
When fishing a Whirlpool can appear, if you still fish in the same spot, it will suck in your fishing equipment and you will need to buy a new one. Big Fish will jump up, take your fishing item and spit it out up on the shore. It will appear close to you.

River Troll
These babies attack you when you're fishing. They are very dangerous, because usually there are so many people on the fishing dock you cannot tell who is receiving damage. Levels range from 14, 15, 20, 45, 47, 120, to 159. Item drops include Fishing bait 5-25, any saltwater fish tuna-shark, feathers, oysters (3), caskets, bones, and fishing equipment.
