Keitaro Urushima
19-years old, landlord of the Hinata House
He's not the brightest crayon in the box, actually probably one of the dullest of them all. He's failed his exam into Tokyo University numerous times, but because of a promise made but not forgotten he is determined to make it in.
Naru Narusegawa
17-years old, 3rd year in highschool, boarder at the Hinata House, room 304
She has the highest test scores in all of Japan which can get her into any school there, let alone Tokyo U, her goal. She's very short tempered, especially with Keitaro, but underneath her tough exterior, there seems to be a fondness towards him.
Matoko Aoyama
15-years old, 2nd year in highschool, boarder at the Hinata House, room 302
She's not very fond Keitaro and tries to run him out with her esquisite blade skills. She once thought that she was in love with the boy, but soon realized that she wasn't and henced the love/hate friendship.
Shinobu Maehara
12-years old, seventh grade, boarder at the Hinata House, room 201
She's very shy and insecure about her abilities in school. Everytime Keitaro tries to cheer her up, he always seems to do something to scare her away, which doesn't please the boarders very happy. they do their best to keep Shinobu away from him.
Mitsune Konno
20-years old, Boarder at the Hinata House, room 205
She often likes to bug Keitaro and get him into trouble with the other boarders, which is also how she got the nickname, "Sly Fox". She hardly ever opens her eyes, but when she does she resembles somewhat of a fox, which is what the author intended.
Suu Kaola
13-years old, boarder at the Hinata House, room 301
She's a hyperactive foreign exchange student of which her origins are unknown. She's very spontaious and loud. Constantly seeking attention, you just want to squeeze her! ^^
Summary
It all begins with with a very short childhood romance that Keitaro had when he was about four, with a girl he met at a local park. The two promised eachother to make it into Tokyo University so that they could be together happily. He never sees the girl again, and it seems that he will never see Tokyo U. as well. He's quite a bum and has failed the exam into Tokyo U. numerous times. After leaving his home with a promise not return until he's in Tokyo U., Keitaro decides to stay at his grandmother's Inn. He soon finds out that it is no longer an Inn, but a boarding house for girls only, and he was left the land by his grandmother who had gone to travel the world. Naru, Mitsune, Suu, Matoko, and Shinobu aren't taking this situation sitting down and try to run the boy out of the Hinata House. The relationship between all of them becomes one of love and hate.
They often mistake Keitaro as a pervert and beat on him whenever he get's caught at the wrong place at the wrong time. Naru especially isn't very fond of the newly assigned Manager,Keitaru. Despite the few moments when the two seem to get along, she can be quite violent towards him, especially to protect the other girls of the Hinata House from his "perverted" actions.
