Shinji Ikari
Shinji is the third Child and as disfunctional as disfunctional can get. After the constant rejection from his father and the death of his mother, which he whitnessed, Shinji has become very insecure about himself. He constantly isolates himself & apologizes for every wrong move he makes. Later in the series, he discovers Rei Ayanami to have been a clone created by his mother's DNA. Shinji also seems to have a crush on pilot Asuka, but being antisocial, he can never figure out exactly how to express his emotions towards her, and she constantly berates him throughout the series.

Asuka Langely
The second Child, Asuka appears to have the most raw talent of the others. She's a lot more arrogant than the others and very animated. Asuka is the exact opposite of Rei's personality which in turn creates a feud between the two. It's probably safe to say that Asuka hates Rei because of these differences. But underneath all of that is Asuka's soft internal self which is conealed from the rest of the world. Asuka's mother was announced insane when Asuka was young, and her mother always used a doll to Symbolize her daughter. The last time Asuka saw her mother, her mother was hanging from the ceiling along with the doll. After the funural had ended, Asuka vowed never to cry again.

Rei Ayanami
Selected by NERVE to be the the first child, Rei has a very mysterious personality. She is actually a clone made from the DNA of Shinji's mother,Yui & Lillit, the second angel of life. There are actually three Rei's in the entire series, the first being killed by Dr. Naoko Akagi, who in turn, killed herself afterwards. Rei II is probably the most popular of the three Reis, being the one bringing the most humor despite her almost pessmistic personality. She complies with whatever order she is given, which brings Asuka to despise Rei. At one point of the series Gendo, Shinji's father, saves Rei II. She then falls grows a strong affection towards him & keeps his glasses on her window sill. Rei II died when the fifteenth angel made contact with her and attempted to kill Shinji. In an effort to protect Shinji, Rei II self destructed her EVA which destroyed the fifteenth angel. Rei III was created by merging with Lillith to induct the third impact.

Misato Katsuragi
Misato is the head of NERV Operations, later in the series promoted from Lietenant to Colonel. While in college, Misato never spoke until she had become friends with Ritsuko Akagi. Later on in college she met a man by the name of Ryoji Kaji, their relationship was very wild throughout their college years. They are later reunited & although their relationship is a bit rocky, they soon become very close to one another. During the series, Misato takes Asuka & Shinji and becomes their legal guardian, so when she died it was defintely concidered one of the more emotional death's in the series.

Kaworu Nagisa
Kaworu is concidered the fifth child as well as the Final Angel. he was assigned to NERV to replace Asuka. When Kowaru meets Shinji, he feels awkward around him, but they become good friend although Kowaru's feelings remain the same. Kowaru also has a special ability to adjust his sync ratio to whatever he feels most comfortable with, which is supposedly impossible to accomplish.

Gendo Ikari
Gendo is very negalective towards his son Shinji, and has been ever since his wife died. After he had an affair with Dr.Naoko, he used her to create a clone using his wife's DNA. He called her Rei, and shows more affection towards her than his own son.

Touji Suzaraha
Touji is the fourth child & has got to be one of the more functional characters in the series, being caring and more thoughtful. But after Shinji injured Touji's sister, Touji has desired revenge on him. He only agreed to work for NERV if they agreed to place her into their medical facilites.He later forgave Shinji though, and even allowed Shinji to strike him across the face. the one person that Touji cannot stand and has a passionate hatred towards Asuka, the Second Child ever since the little incident consisitng of him seeing her panties & her smacking him across the face.

:Summary
Neon Genesis Evangalion is set in the year 2015 where the earth was destroyed by The Second Impact. A new era has brewed due to the melted ice caps. Also, a new prescence has formed on the planet known as Angels. The Angels are violently searching for something, and due to their violent nature an organization has formed to oppose them, they are known as NERV. This new organization began training teenagers to pilot gigantic bio-mechanical robots known as Evangalions to fight against the Angels.
