Time of Transition In 1961, Monsignor Corcoran's health had begun to fail. A lung condition havibng become aggravated, he suffered severe asthma attacks. Soon it became apparent that he would have to take a slower pace in his duties; but as time drew on those close to the ailing pastor knew that he would have to leave, at least temporarily, for a drier climate. To facilitate his recovery., Cardinal M cIntyre allowed Monsignor Corcoran to convalesce in Arizona and appointed Monsignor Joseph Sharpe as administrator of Christ the King. The presence of Mnsignor Sharpe helped to soothe the heartbreak of Monsignor Corcoran when he had to leave his people. For the next five years, Monsignor Corcoran would travel intermittently from Tucson to Los Angeles as his health permitted. Former Administrator Reverend Monsignor Joseph F. Sharpe
