Black City - (http://blackrebeldigits.com/blackcity/bcwelcome1.html) - Darkly fascinating tales set in a 1950's South American city. Black Rebel Digits is putting on a great show here: a compelling and offbeat storyline enhanced with stark graphics. Recommended. (13 Mar 97)
Blithe House Quarterly - (http://www.spectra.net/~aalvarez/BHQ.html): This is a new site dedicated to "gay short fiction." BHQ is a first-rate production, featuring smooth prose that's presented in a brightly simple design. The sexual orientation of the characters seemed of little consequence in the stories I sampled--rather than labelling these pieces "gay stories", I'd describe them as well-written prose about interesting characters, many of whom happen to be gay. Blood + Aphorisms On-Line - (http://www.io.org/~blood/): The electronic version of a printed literary magazine. Although they only post the table of contents for the current issue, they have some stories in their entirety among the back issue listings. (03 Mar 97)
The Blue Moon Review - (http://www.TheBlueMoon.com/) - A gorgeously crafted literary webzine that offers excellent short fiction and poetry. When you hear people say that Internet-publishing can't compare to the print market for quality, point to this site and give them a big raspberry. Highly recommended. (06 Mar 97)
