Sewing

This page will be dedicated to sewing, a pastime I have enjoyed more since I have retired and been able to sew for the grandkids. I make the most of my favorite hobbies: completing projects that build the wardrobe of my grandchildren and creating wonderful gifts that are among my most treasured given to family and friends.

Made November 2004- The pockets below the tree hold ornaments to decorate the tree form Dec 1 to Dec 25 Christmas. My grandkids loved to count down the days til Jolly St Nick arrived.

I made these christmas covers for the bathroom, tissue and toilet paper cover.
I have a thing for pillows. Change them for the season and holiday.
Every t-shirt and sweatshirt I own has some kind of applique on it. Most of my family members have at least one of my creations. Here are two, they are very easy to make. Just use a fusible (I prefer "Aleene's fusible Web"), press it on and satin stitch around. I once used the fusible then fabric paints to seal the edges but found after many washings it did not hold up. Began to peal off.

Every sewer has to make covers for their sewing machines. Have made many over the years.
Made this crochet needle case with a matching knitting needle case. Just velcro shut for take along projects.

Soothing Heating Pads and Cold Pack

Here is a scanned picture of heat pad. I have made about 30. For instructions on making them go here.

These door Easter Bunnies were pre-printed "Daisy Kingdom" fabric from Walmart. So easy to make but so cute to look at. The pictures were taken with my new Sony73 Digital camera at night with a flash. Pretty good yes!

This pillow cover was made using the technique described on HGTV's "Simply Quilts". Sharon Rexroad Ericson was the shows guest quilter and the demonstration was from her book "Doily Magic". I only had a small doily 10 PM at night so this is what I came up with. Would love to do a pillow in blues for my livingroom. This pillow will go to my grand-daughter Chelsea with her pink Barbie bedroom. This is a scanned picture but a completed finished digital picture is shown on my quilting page.
Heart pillow instructions at HGTV site.
This vest gets much attention when I wear it, I call it Home Sweet Home. What do you think? The front was made with old denim jean legs.

An Easter vest with matching t-shirt.

I made three Santa and five Snowmen Door Hangers for the family. The penguin I hope to sell on E-Bay.

My brother and sister-in-law live in Phoenix, Arizona. I made this little wall hanging depicting a desert scene.

Chelsea and her doll have matching outfits, it is a Daisy Kingdom pre-printed. How easy can it get for us the modern day sewer?

These are the same bear. I dress her for all seasons. The hat and the objects she holds can be changed for the different holidays. Here are two.

Uncle Sam was a lot of fun to make. He is hanging on the mirror in my livingroom til after the 4th of July.

These cute little bag ladies and bag bunny is a great place to stow away those ugly blue grocery bags.
This doll was found in a dumpster and I dressed her in one of the Easter outfits I made for my granddaughter that she outgrew. She now sits in the corner of my livingroom, a friend when I get lonely.

These rabbit vacuum cleaner covers were a lot of fun to make, I made four in all. The Mc Calls "Crafts Pattern 5985" includes draft dodger and sewing machine cover.

Another Christmas project was this cute bear that will be used as a dirty clothes bag in Chelsea's bedroom. The front opens at the waist on both sides, the light blue for light clothes and the dark green for dark clothes.

This past Christmas I made 8 tree skirts for family members. My nutty sister-in-law Nancy, liked hers so much she thought she would wear it. Simplicity pattern number "Crafts 9800" (this pattern also includes tree ornaments, wreath and stocking).

Besides sewing and quilting, cross stitch, chicken scratch and crocheting are other enjoyable passtimes. I have always enjoyed working with my hands and am especially pleased when I know I have created something myself.

If I can help anyone with my knoweledge of my creations, please don't hesitate to e-mail me.
