Paper Piecing

This page will contain some of the many paper pieced projects I have completed.

I love to sew but my true love is paper piecing quilts. I have made many wall hangings using this technique. It is so easy and relaxing, there's nothing like a quiet evening spent in my sewing room, creating a country landscape or a bird in flight. These are everyday images that stay with me always once I have woven the fabric together into a reminder of a once glimpsed scene. Quilting is a breeze when you paper piece. Many patterns can be obtained free on the Internet along with step by step instructions on paper piecing also drafting and designing patterns. at these two quilting sites.

These two stars are just a few that I completed for my year 2000 quilt.
I was going to name it "Y2K Shoot for the Stars".

Since my husbands death on August 17, 1999 I have decided to rename my quilt. It will now be

"Y2K A New Beginning"

.
The pattern was obtained from the paper piecing page on QuiltTalk The stars are all made in shades of blue.
Triple Star Quilt My paper pieced triple star quilt "A New Beginning" is finally finished. See full size quilt here.

The Christmas Tree pictured below (measures about 60"x50") was found on this site.

This new christmas tree was made for my sister. Her favorite color is green and she loved the tree. This pattern was obtained from Christmas Tree. I decorated with button hearts and stars.

One of the best publication by subscription I have found is "The Foundation Piecer" by Zippy Designs they are a paper piecing publication.
They have projects that are simple and quick, to the challenging. Everything from the traditional star, seasonal projects for the holidays and landscapes that are pleasing to the eye. Please excuse me, I seem to be rambling on, but I have spent many hours with this my newest pastime.

Here are a few more of the paper pieced wallhangings I have completed.
