Date Palms are cultivated in the northern part of the Sultanate, particularly in the wadis and planes.Plam groves cover around 120,000 hectares or approx 49%of the country's cultivated area. Palms in the Sultanate grow in two different areas demand two different climates:

Those grown in the coastal areas need high temperatures and can tolerate high humidity, whilst those grown in the Interiors  thrive on a dry climate with high temperatures.
