| After leaving Alabasta, the Straw hats find that Nico Robin has boarded their ship. She requests to join their crew, citing Luffy responsible for saving her earlier on. Without much hesitation, Luffy accepts and tells her to join. Whilst they are travelling on the seas, all of a sudden a huge ship falls out from the sky. They are astounded and hardly able to believe their eyes. The log post points to the sky and Robin tells them about a legendary place known as �Sky Island�. From the ship that fell, they found a map labelled �Sky Piea.� It is a map of an island floating in the sky. Luffy wants to go to this mysterious island, but they do not have any information about it. They decide to salvage the fallen ship. Luffy, Zoro and Sanji dives underwater to salvage it. All of a sudden, another huge ship appears, this time it is the ship of the Masira pirates� crew. They also wish to salvage the ship. Masira realizes that there are people underwater and he dives down to check it out. Just at that moment, a large sea monster appeared and swallowed the sunken ship. At the same time, the surroundings suddenly become as dark as night. Luffy, Zoro and Sanji are flung back on board the Going Merry. They look up and see some huge shadows on the ocean, towering above them. Frightened, they leave the area as quick as they can. Robin gives Nami an Eternal Post she stole from Masira�s ship. It is pointing towards an island called Jaya. They head there to get more information about Sky Piea. It turns out that Jaya is a very chaotic place with no law. People fight often and crime is everywhere. Nami makes Luffy and Zoro promise not to fight in the town. They stumble upon a place where �Bellamy the Hyena� resides. He is a notorious pirate who conquers the area. After leaving that place, they come to a pub to have a meal. Here they meet a man who quarrels with Luffy over the food of that place. The man leaves and Bellamy enters the pub. He hears of Luffy�s bounty and wants to fight him. Before they can fight, Nami hastily asks the barkeeper for any information regarding Sky Piea. The entire pub bursts out into laughter upon hearing her question and dismisses Sky Island as merely a fairytale. Luffy tells Zoro not to fight with these pirates. They are beat up badly but still do not retaliate. Nami takes them and leaves. Outside, they meet again the man who fought with Luffy earlier over the food. He says that Luffy has won the fight, and that a man�s dream will never end. He leaves after saying that. Back on the ship, Robin hands them a map of Jaya Island. She tells them off a man named Monbran Cricket who lives on the island. Apparently he was exiled because he kept talking about his dreams. Just then, they encounter another strange ship. This time it is the ship of the Shoujou pirates�s crew. The Straw hats escape and go to Monbran Cricket�s house on the east shore of Jaya. They find an old book telling the story of �Norland � The King of Liars�. Norland was a man who claimed to have found an island of gold. The king wanted to see this island so he bid Norland to take him. When they got there, they could not find this island, thus Norland was sentenced to death. It turns out that Monbran Cricket is the descendant of Norland and has come to Jaya island to look for the gold under the sea. It also turns out that Monbran Cricket is the leader of Masira and Shoujou. He decides to help the Straw hats get to Sky Island. He tells them the way to get there is by �Knock Up Stream� � a stream of water which bursts out of the ocean at random times. He also tells them of the ringing of a legendary golden bell from Sky Island which can be heard from all corners of the seas. He also shows them some gold he has found from the ocean as proof. He tells them they need the �South Bird� in order to get to Sky Island and they Straw hats immediately set out to capture one. At the same time, Bellamy appears at Cricket�s home and steals the gold. Luffy sets out to defeat him and retrieve the gold. The primates help modify Going Merry to enable it to sail on the clouds. They head towards �Knock Up Stream� and with the help of the primates, are off on their way to Sky Island!!! |
