| The Straw Hats have to enter the Grand Line via a place known as the Reverse Mountain. With Nami�s superb navigational skills, they brave the dangerous currents, soar through the air and reach Grand Line. All of a sudden, they are confronted by a huge and fearsome whale, Laboon. They try to sail past unnoticed, but Luffy provokes the whale and it becomes wild. It then swallows the Going Merry and the Straw Hats find themselves trapped inside Laboon�s stomach. However, what is odd is that inside the stomach, there is a sky and a island with a little house. They then discover that the sky is painted on the inside of Laboon�s stomach. Living in that little house is an old man names Crocus. He looks after Laboon and gives it medicine to calm itself down when it goes wild and bangs it�s head against the sea walls. The reason for Laboon�s wildness is because it is waiting for a group of pirates to return. The pirates that it used to travel with left it there in Crocus�s care a long time ago when they entered the Grand Line. They promised to some day return and take Laboon with them. Laboon has been waiting for years and years, but they never came back. As it turns out, those pirates have all died in the Grand Line. Laboon refuses to face this fact and cries out in agony, every day banging the walls of the mountain in the hope that they will return, which is why it has numerous terrifying scars on the top of it�s head. To protect it, Crocus has to inject medicine from inside of Laboon to supress him. Here we also meet Miss Wednesday and her partner, they are agents from the agency Baroque Works who works under a terrifying pirate, Crocodile. They attempt to battle the Straw Hats but Luffy easily defeats them. Crocus takes them out of Laboon and to his house on shore. He is the guardian of the Twin Capes Lighthouses, two lighthouses at the entrance of Grand Line which guides pirates travelling at night. The Straw Hats feel sorry for Laboon, but Luffy initiates a fight with the whale. They battle each other, and Luffy wins. When he defeats Laboon, he promises to come back and have a rematch someday. In order to prevent Laboon from banging his head against the mountain, he paints the symbol of the Straw Hat�s pirates on Laboon�s head. Laboon is very moved and lets out a cry. To show his appreciation, Crocus gives the Straw Hats an essential item for their journey � the Lock Post. It guides them to each destination on the Grand Line as it is very easy to get lost. A Lock Post which is fixed on one set destination is called an Eternal Post. The Straw hats bid farewell to Laboon and Crocus and set off on their way into their brand new adventure on the Grand Line! |
