| Rogue Town |
| The Straw Hat pirates� crew head towards the Grand Line. Before entering Grand Line, they stop at Rogue Town, also known as the �Town of Beginning and the End�. This is because this town was where the pirate kind, Gold Roger, was born and also executed. Luffy is very interested and sets out to find the execution point. Meanwhile, Sanji, Zoro, Nami and Usopp each set off to explore the town as well. We are introduced to Colonel Smoker and his assistant, Tashigi. Colonel Smoker is a powerful colonel in the Marines and has also obtained the powers of a devil fruit. He is able to attack by turning parts of his body into, what else, smoke. Tashigi is a swordswoman who strongly resembles Kuina, a girl from Zoro�s past. Tashigi meets Zoro for the first time when she is confronted by some villains in the town. Before Zoro steps in to help her, she draws her swords and defeats the villains herself. Zoro is taken aback with her similarity to Kuina. Zoro then goes to a sword shop to purchase some new swords. There, he meets Tashigi again. He manages to gain himself a very good sword, also known as a cursed sword. Sanji buys a huge, rare fish, known as the 'Elephant fish'. He spots Usopp, who is also shopping. Nami, meanwhile, treats herself by buying a large selection of clothes. Colonel Smoker hears about Luffy's arrival in Rogue Town. Determined to stop pirates from causing trouble, he goes to fight Luffy. Buggy and Alvida also reappear here, with plots to defeat Luffy. Nami, Usopp, Sanji and Zoro meet again in the middle of town. Nami senses a change in the weather and suggests leaving. They go to find Luffy. Luffy manages to find Gold Roger's execution point. He climbs to the top and sees the same view the pirate king saw before he died. Buggy and Alvida appear and trap him. Buggy attempts to chop off his head, but he shouts out loud from there that he will become the world's greatest pirate. The Straw Hats arrive at the scene and try to rescue Luffy, but are stopped but Buggy and Alvida's pirate crew. Just as Buggy is about to lop off Luffy's head, lighting strikes the stake from the sky, and Luffy is saved. After a lot of chaos and confusion, the Straw hats escape with Luffy. Tashigi finds out Zoro is a pirate and confronts him, but Zoro avoids fighting. The Straw hats are also confronted by Smoker but they are saved by the arrival of a mysterious stranger named Dragon who distracts Smoker. The storm gets heavier and the Straw Hat pirate crew makes their getaway. This is the last place that the Straw Hats visit in East Blue. After they leave the town, it's time to head to the place of dreams - the Grand Line!!!! |
