Mr. Declan Lucey’s Visit

All about the poet’s visit.

He said he wrote a new poem but did not have it. He looked like a saint because he has a long beard. His songs were nice so were his poems.

Declan Lucey came to our school today. Declan done poems and songs with us. He played the bodhrán. He kept falling over himself. He was very good on the Bodhrán. Declan was very funny. He was very good at singing.

A poet came to our school today. His name was Declan Lucey. The last time he came he told us a joke and today he told us the answer. Then he went on to poems.

Today we had a poet come to our school. His name was Declan Lucey. He told us how our bodies work. He plays the bodhrán we helped him to get the rhythm . He writes pomes he was 32 when he first wrote his poems. He now is able to write lots and lots of poems . He is very interesting and good fun and witty. Declan is very polite

There was a poet at our school today. His name was Declan Lucey. He was a nice man. His poems were very funny and he had a bodhrán. He was good at playing it. He was a bit crazy. He was 32 when he wrote his first poem. He is 53 now so he has been writing poems a long time. He has a lot of jokes and he was very funny at the jokes.

A poet called Declan Lucey came to our school today. He is from Midleton, Co. Corki. He did a few songs but they were mostly poems. I liked the poem about the dog.. a poet can just look at something and make a poem out of it. Declan also told us about how bad coke and fizzy stuff is. A Dogs food in tins is not good for dogs. Chocolate is also bad for dogs if you give them too much of it. He was 32 when he wrote his own poems. Every poem he had had a rhythm with the bodhrán or just the way he said the poem.

Declan Lucey is a poet from Cork. He visited us this afternoon and was very nice he came to teach us about poetry he was very good at both playing the Bodhrán and singing the songs. Lots of songs about school sport and he asked us riddles and some jokes. He was ever so polite. The Bodhrán was good because it gave a good beat and rhythm to both his poems and his songs. He was very smart and full of knowledge. Believe it or not he was 32 when he started writing poetry and 20 years later he is still writing. He knows a lot and shared a lot with us. I enjoyed his visit.

Mr. Declan Lucey visited our school today he sang some wonderful songs and poems. He said that his name Declan means full of youth and speed. He had lots of nice riddles one of them was if a brick and a half weighs a pound and a half and a half brick how much does 4 brick weigh? I never believed that their were so much dogs abandoned . Would you believe that there was approx. 30,000 dogs abandoned in Ireland last year. He sang most of his songs were with the bodhrán . It really puts in a nice rhythm. He told us about healthy food diets it was fun you are definitely Not to eat chips. Anything cooked in oil is rubbish. He is a really nice poet.

We had a poet called Declan Lucey in our school today. First he did really funny poems about Halloween. He also had a lot of jokes and he acts very funny. He plays an instrument called the bodhrán . He makes us laugh. He also attempted a poem but couldn’t remember it. His poems were very funny and I enjoyed him. When he was 32 he wrote his first poem he is now 53.

A poet called Declan Lucey came to our school on the 21st October 2004 . He taught me lots of new things I didn’t know. My name is Declan too so he told me what Déaglán means it means “Strong Youth” He sang some very good poems. The first poem he sang was a Halloween Poem that was very good. He sang lots of other poems. He sang most of the poems with the Bodhrán. He also told us how many dogs were abandoned in Ireland this year 30,000. He is very good! I hope he comes again.

A poet came to our school today. His name was Declan Lucey He did a lot of poems for us some were funny and some were not so funny. He came on the 21st October 204. I told him a joke and he liked it . He uses a stich to do the rhythm on the Bodhrán . the Bodhrán is made of Goat skin.. He was 32 when he first wrote poetry he is 53 now Deglán means Strong Youth. The first poem was a Halloween poem. That was good. He said cornflakes were bad for you. 30,000 dogs were abandoned last year, Some people say that abandoned dogs are called strays.

A poet came to our school. His name was Declan Lucey. He had riddles for us . The riddles were very funny. He had some poems. The poems all had different effects on us. He also had loads of songs. For a lot of them he used the bodhrán. It is made from goats skin. It is a lovely instrument. A lot of songs were rhythmic. He was talking about his past a lot. He has a nice sense of humour. He was also talking about our lifestyle and health. He is a nice person and I hope he comes again!.

I liked Mr Declan Lucey. He was very friendly he told us about how he started poetry. He was a bit crazy he was jumping around the place. He told us jokes they were very good. He plays the bodhrán he is very good.

I think Declan Lucey was very good and the Bodhran was col. He said a lot of jokes and beautiful songs and he said a lot of funny songs like spot the dog.

Today we had a poet in our school. His name was Declan Lucey. When he came in he told us jokes and riddles. He used his bodhrán in most of his poem’s for rhythm and time. He told us lots of funny poems. He was 32 when he first wrote a poem and now he is 53. He has been writing poems and songs for 21 years now. He told us about rubbish food.

Declan is a poet. He is a good Poet. He sings songs. He sings with the Bodhrán . He told us stories and poems. He is good at the Bodhrán.

First we started with some jokes and when he came back he asked us the joke. Then we asked him could play the bodhrán. He played songs and poems. The time went so fast we had done so much work.

The Pumpkins

We have planted four pumpkins in our vegetable patch. One of the pumpkins is big and another one is at bit smaller and another one is smaller then the third one the last one is very small. They weighed 1,4,8, and 20 kgs. We will put faces on the pumpkins they will be scary. The pumpkins look nice because they are very bright orange. The big pumpkin was very heavy and the other pumpkins were lighter. The pumpkins took over the vegetable patch.

Play Ground

We got lining on the play Ground. They were men that lined the court and they were from Belfast. They are good at their job. It is great fun to play on the play Ground. We play soccer and rounders, it is cool, We have a map of Ireland. The men that came to our school we gave them a card. Gavin opened the court Bart. It was expensive but worth it.
Our games are good, because we can play catch and piggy in the middle, or any other game. They are stuck in the ground. We have a basket ball court and a tennis court. as well. We have loads of basket ball and loads of tennis rackets and tennis balls to play with. We can play rounders. All of our court is lined. The two men who did it were from Belfast. Baby Banbhs

We had an interesting visitor Babe family litter of Piglets Banbh’s are small when they are born. They can’t see and they need to stay with the mother for four weeks or more. The mother is very angry when you go near her banbhs. You have to lock her up because she might bite her banbhs. The banbhs get milk from their mother. The mother is very fat. They play in the mud they get very dirty. They go straight to the mud when they are born. That’s only after a few weeks. There is a strong smell off the banbhs. 16 were born 5 died 11 still living Babe is rant.

Banbhs are very smelly but they are the cleanest animal on the farm. I love baby Banbhs . On Saturday we pulled out their teeth and cut off their tails. Babe visited Scoil na Croise Naofa. The owner is Lar Power. The sow is called Bessy she is very fat. The food they eat is Bran. The babies are very healthy. We have a red bulb for the baby Banbhs so the will not be bothering their mother 24 hours a day. We have a mother pig and she is due this Christmas. She is very cool. I like her.

The Book Fair

There were good books there like Goosebumps, yu-gi-oh The Simpsons and Quiz books. I looked at the quiz book I could only answer a few questions. The books were very good I bought the Simptons. I have not got it but I will get it. I was reading a bit of it. It was very good, it is like a comic book with pictures. The parents association in the girls school organized it.

There was a book fair down in the G.N.S. primary school in Stradbally. There were lots of different abooks. There was books for starters, good readers and excellent readers. There were lots of different types like Roddy Doyle, Goosebumps, Yu-gi-oh, simpsons, joke books, quiz books, horrible history, Horrible Science,and lots more. You could get posters as well.

Sherkin Island

Sherkin is an Island so it has beaches. The names are trá-mhor, Trá-bán and silver beach. There is also two other beaches. There is a beach where you can skim every stone. The other beach has big rocks. There was a school on the Island. It had markings just like our school and a sports hall. “The Islander’s Rest” There is also a Bed and Breakfast called “Horseshoe Cottage”.

In Sherkin Island there are loads of sea Animals. They are called Starfish, Shrimps, Shell fish and seaweed. We did a project on Sherkin Island. And it was about animals like birds, starfish, shell fish and shrimps. There is one hotel on Sherkin Island . It is called “The Islanders Rest” There is also a Bed and Breakfast there. It is called “Horseshoe Cottage”.

Our Room

Art We make our own universe full with cardboard we made lots of planets. We also did a drawing of the digestive system and we did cards for Jamie Costin. They said Get Well Soon. We love Colláge and painting too.

Library We have lots of books some are good some not so good. Some are funny and some sad some big and some small. We are very lucky to enjoy reading. We write book reviews for our website we have poetry books and story books and also books for information.

Halloween For Halloween we do lots of art we draw witches skeletons Frankenstein Vampires and lots more.

Instruments We have lots of instruments from claves to xylophones they make lots of noise bang to bing and they will always make noise. We make instruments as well.

Our First Table Quiz

One Friday night at 8 p.m. there was a table quiz on at St. Mary’s School in Dungarvan. There was three tables. There were 6 questions altogether and 10 rounds In each round there were 6 questions. Some were hard each team had 4 players. On our team there was me, Ciarán, Declan, and Ger.

On Friday night at 8 p.m. we went to our first table quiz. Our team was Cathal, Declan, Ger and myself. We came 5th out of 36 teams. My favourite bit was the raffle because Cathal’s ticket was picked. But when he went up to get his prize which was a box of sweets the town schools were booing, but at least we got the box of sweets.
