Soccer News from Scoil na Croise Noafa

Spud wrote about The Ribena SOCCER Tournament.

We went down to Waterford for a soccer tournament. We had two teams. We went by bus. We were in a tough group but we got through undefeated. Our semi-final was very easy but we were very tired after it.

We were through to the final. The final itself was disappointing from our point of view. We conceded three silly goals so we were on the backfoot. Dice and Mo pulled some back but it wasn’t our day.

We went out disappointed but at the same time , proud of our performance.

I think sport is great. It increases your fitness level and keeps you in top form. It is a good hobby. It also keeps you busy .

Mo wanted to tell you about the CBS Soccer Blitz.

We had to be in school at 9:00. When the bus came we got on and travelled to Dungarvan. We played against CBS 2 AND WE WON 3:0. Then we played Ballymac and got a goal in the dying seconds. Dice got his fourth goal of the tournament. We got to the quarter final against Aglish. It was 0:0 at full time . We went into extra time - silver goal. It finished 0:0. Then it went into penalties

Our goalkeeper – Flubber took the first penalty. He missed. The goalkeeper saved it.

Then Ninja scored a beauty into the top corner.

Then Gizzmo , our midfielder scored.

A glimpse of hope……

I was up next. I was shaking. I whacked it in the bottom corner and it…………rattled the post.
I missed.

Aglish scored.

It was 3:2.
Dice our forward, the top scorer stepped up. Spud, the sub had hands over eyes. Dice kicked it. It went off the cross bar. We were knocked out. We shook hands with Aglish. We went to the dressing room, changed and got on the bus.

Our day was over.

Zing’s contribution to our trip down memory lane is below.

This year Fifth and Sixth Classes went on trips, to play hurling. I enjoyed it very much. We played Modeligo and Clashmore. We won some and lost others. We went in cars to other villages and sometimes we went to the GAA Club at home to play games. I played at times. Indeed everyone got a go to play. Our teacher is Connie DI Fusco. We brought our own equipment - hurleys and helmets.

In our school we like sports very much and play every Friday. I was a captain last year but didn’t get very far. We play soccer, hurling ,football and basket ball. We also play tennis and volleyball in the summer. This year we went swimming too.
