January 6, 2008: General Secretary Kim Jong Il visited the construction site of the Ryesonggang Power Station. Kim was accompanied by Choe Ryong Hae, chief secretary of the North Hwanghae Provincial Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Ri Yong Chol, first deputy department director of the C.C., WPK, and Generals of the Korean People's Army Hyon Chol Hae and Ri Myong Su.
January 7, 2008: General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected KPA Unit 776 honored with the title of O Jung Hup-led 7th Regiment. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Hyon Chol Hae and Ri Myong Su and Ri Yong Chol, first deputy department director of the C.C., WPK.
January 21, 2008: General Secretary Kim Jong Il visited the 18th national [computer] program contest and exhibition, representing programs developed at Kim Il Sung University, Kim Chaek University of Technology and the University of Science, the Pyongyang Information Centre, the Central Scientific and Technological Information Agency and other institutes. Kim was met by Paek Chon Ho, vice-president of the State Academy of Sciences, Ryu Sun Ryol, rector of the College of Information Science and Technology of Kim Chaek University of Technology, and officials concerned. Kim was accompanied by Choe Thae Bok and Kim Ki Nam, secretaries of the Central Committee of the WPK, Ri Kwang Ho and Jang Song Thaek, its department directors, and Ju Kyu Chang, its first vice department director.
January 25, 2008: General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave field guidance to the Kanggye Chicken Farm and the Kanggye Pig Farm. Kim was accompanied by Pak To Chun, chief secretary of the Jagang Provincial Committee of the WPK, and Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the WPK Central Committee.
January 26, 2008: General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave on-the-spot guidance to the work in various fields of Janggang County, including the Janggang Mushroom Farm, the Janggang Foodstuff Factory, the Janggang Rabbit Breeding Stock Farm (with a ide visit to the family of Kim Chol Su, head of a work-team, who set an example in raising rabbits), and looked over Janggang township and a photo exhibition now under way in Jagang Province. Kim was accompanied by Pak To Chun, chief secretary of the Jagang Provincial Committee of the WPK, and Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the WPK Central Committee.
January 29, 2008: General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave on-the-spot guidance to the March 5 Youth Mine. Kim also visited the Naedong Revolutionary Site in the seat of Jasong County. Kim was accompanied by Pak To Chun, chief secretary of the Jagang Provincial Committee of the WPK.
January 30, 2008: General Secretary Kim Jong Il received the delegation of the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China led by its Head Wang Jiarui. Also present were Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, and Liu Xiaoming, Chinese ambassador to the DPRK.

March 1, 2008: General Secretary Kim Jong Il visited the Chinese embassy at the request of Chinese Ambassador to the DPRK Liu Xeroxing. Kim was accompanied by Kim Kyok Sik, chief of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army, Kim Jong Gak, first vice-director of the General Political Department of the KPA, Kang Sok Ju, first vice- minister of Foreign Affairs, Kim Yang Gon, department director, Pak Kyong Son and Ji Jae Ryong, vice department directors of the Central Committee of the WPK, and Kim Yong Il, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs.
March 8, 2008: General Secretary Kim Jong Il attended an art performance given in celebration of the International Women's Day. June 24, 2008: General Secretary Kim Jong Il attended an art performance given by the Russian State Academic People's Chorus Named after M. E. Pyatnichki. Kim was greeted at a theater by Aleksandra Permyakova, head of the chorus, and Valery Sukhinin, Russian ambassador to the DPRK. Also present were Secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK Kim Ki Nam, First Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Sok Ju, Generals of the Korean People's Army Hyon Chol Hae and Ri Myong Su, KPA servicepersons and creators and artistes of the army and society.

Oga, and the Hwaphyong Army-People Power Station. July 3, 2008: General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave field guidance to several units in Kanggye City, including the Kanggye Post Office, the Jagang Provincial Institute of Forest Science and an experimental nursery of the Jagang Provincial Industrial Forest Office, the Kanggye Foodstuff Factory, the Kanggye Unha Clothing Factory, and the Kanggye Chicken Giblets Soup Restaurant. Kim was accompanied by Pak Nam Gi, department director of the WPK Central Committee, Ri Thae Nam, chief secretary of the South Phyongan Provincial Committee of the WPK, and Ju Kyu Chang and Ri Jae Il, first vice department directors of the WPK Central Committee. Kim also met with Ho In Hwan, one of the heads of the first Chollima work-teams in the period of the great Chollima upswing, Ri Jae Gyong who designed the furnace and other officials, workers and technicians who have done a lot of things, working at the complex for years.

Kim also met with Ri Pyong Chol, commander of the KPA air force, and other general officers and commanding officers of the unit as well as Hero of the Republic Ho Ryong.
