January 2, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il attended an art performance given by the Merited State Chorus of the KPA on the occasion of the New Year. Kim was accompanied by senior cadres of the WPK Central Committee and commanding officers of the KPA.

January 15, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected the Command of KPA Combined Unit 593. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong and vice department directors of the WPK Central Committee Kang Tong Yun and Hwang Pyong So.

January 16, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected the Command of KPA Unit 398. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong, KPA Col. General Choe Pu Il and Vice Department Directors of the WPK Central Committee Kang Tong Yun and Hwang Pyong So.

January 19, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave field guidance to industrial establishments in Huichon City, visiting the Huichon Machine-Tool Factory (where he met with Merited Designers Yun Yong Sam and Son Kwang Won), the Youth Electrical Complex, and the Huichon Ceramic Factory. Kim was accompanied by Pak To Chun, chief secretary of the Jagang Provincial Committee of the WPK, Pak Nam Gi, department director of the C.C., WPK, and Ri Jae Il, first vice department director of the same.

January 21, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave field guidance to the newly built Thaechon Youth Power Station No. 4 on the River Taeryong in North Phyongan Province. Kim was accompanied by Kim Phyong Hae, chief secretary of the North Phyongan Provincial Committee of the WPK, and Pak Nam Gi, department director of the C.C., WPK.

February 7, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il provided field guidance to the work related to the revolutionary sites in the city of Chongjin, visiting the statue of President Kim Il Sung in Ranam District, the Malum Revolutionary Site and a room for the preservation and education in slogan-bearing trees. Kim was accompanied by Chief Secretary of the North Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK Hong Sok Hyong, Secretary of the WPK Central Committee Kim Ki Nam, Department Director of the WPK Central Committee Pak Nam Gi. [The emphasis of this visit was the anti-Japanese struggle, and comes a day before the resumption of six-party nuclear talks and amid a general round of anti-Japanese commentary in the North Korean media.]

February 7, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave field guidance to Chongjin University of Mining and Metallurgy. Kim was accompanied by Hong Sok Hyong, chief secretary of the North Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK, Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the C.C., WPK, and Pak Nam Gi, department director of the same. [Kim�s visit to the university comes a day after the KCNA ran an article about mining and �geological prospecting� in North Korea, though that article focused on non-ferrous metal ore and coal.]

February 8, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave field guidance to the newly built Orangchon Power Station No. 1, the construction site of the Orangchon Dam, and the Jangyonho Fish Farm in North Hamgyong Province. Kim was accompanied by Hong Sok Hyong, chief secretary of the North Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK, Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the C.C., WPK, and Pak Nam Gi, department director of the same. [Kim�s visit to the Power station comes as North Korean media focuses on power generation, and as the six party nuclear talks kick off in Beijing, discussing new supplies of heavy fuel oil to North Korea.]

February 8, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave field guidance to the Chongjin Primary Seasoning Factory and the newly built Army-People Power Station. Kim was accompanied by Hong Sok Hyong, chief secretary of the North Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK, Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, and Pak Nam Gi, department director of the same.

March 4, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il visited the Chinese embassy in Pyongyang at the invitation of the Chinese ambassador e.p. on the occasion of the Lunar New Year. Kim was accompanied by Secretary of the WPK Central Committee Kim Ki Nam, First Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Sok Ju, First Vice-Department Director of the WPK Central Committee Ri Yong Chol, Councilor of the DPRK National Defence Commission Kim Yang Gon, KPA Generals Kim Jong Gak and Hyon Chol Hae, Col. General Choe Pu Il, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Kim Yong Il and Vice-Department Director of the WPK Central Committee Pak Kyong Son. Kim was greeted by Chinese Ambassador E.P. to the DPRK Liu Xiaoming and leading officials of the embassy on the spot.

March 7, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il enjoyed the art performance "The Blue Sky over My Country" (Part Dawn.) Also in attendance were Choe Thae Bok, Kim Jung Rin and Kim Ki Nam, secretaries of the Central Committee of the WPK, and other senior officials of the WPK Central Committee and Vice Marshal of the KPA Kim Il Chol, member of the DPRK National Defence Commission and minister of the People's Armed Forces, and other KPA commanding officers, servicepersons and officials in the fields of literature and arts and media.

March 13, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il provided field guidance to the Pakchon Silk Mill in North Phyongan Province. Kim was accompanied by Kim Phyong Hae, chief secretary of the North Phyongan Provincial Committee of the WPK, Pak Nam Gi, department director of the WPK Central Committee, and Ri Jae Il, first vice department director of the WPK Central Committee.

March 16, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected the Command of Guard Seoul Ryu Kyong Su 105 Tank Division of the KPA. Kim was accompanied by Ri Yong Chol and Ri Jae Il, first vice department directors of the Central Committee of the WPK.

March 19, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected the command of KPA unit 350. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su and Hyon Chol Hae and Ri Jae Il, first vice department director of the Central Committee of the WPK, and Hwang Pyong So, vice department director of the C.C., the WPK.

March 21, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il appreciated a concert given on works created by People's Artiste Jang Ryong Sik. Also present were senior officials of the WPK Central Committee and creators and artistes of the army and the society.

April 11, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il attended the 5th session of the 11th Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK.

April 21, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected KPA Navy Unit 790 honored with the title of O Jung Hup-led 7th Regiment. Kim was accompanied by KPA General Kim Kyok Sik, chief of the General Staff of the KPA, KPA Generals Kim Yun Sim, Ri Myong Su and Hyon Chol Hae, First Vice-Department Directors of the Central Committee of the WPK Ri Yong Chol and Ri Jae Il. [NOTE: This is the first mention of Kim Kyok Sik�s promotion to KPA Chief of General Staff]

April 21, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected KPA Unit 1637. Kim was accompanied by KPA General Kim Kyok Sik, chief of the General Staff of the KPA, KPA Generals Kim Yun Sim, Ri Myong Su and Hyon Chol Hae, and First Vice Department Directors of the WPK Central Committee Ri Yong Chol and Ri Jae Il.

April 25, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il, together with KPA commanding officers, visited the Kumsusan Memorial Palace to pay homage to Kim Il Sung on the occasion of the 75th founding anniversary of the KPA. Kim was accompanied by KPA General Kim Kyok Sik, chief of the KPA General Staff, KPA Vice Marshal Kim Il Chol, member of the DPRK NDC and minister of the People's Armed Forces, staff members of the KPA Supreme Command and commanders of the KPA services and arms.

April 25, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il, together with servicepersons, saw a performance given by the KPA State Merited Chorus to celebrate the 75th founding anniversary of the KPA. Also present were KPA General Kim Kyok Sik, chief of the KPA General Staff, KPA Vice Marshal Kim Il Chol, member of the DPRK NDC and minister of the People's Armed Forces, staff members of the KPA Supreme Command, commanders of the KPA services and arms, and Kim Yong Il, premier of the DPRK Cabinet, and secretaries Choe Thae Bok, Kim Kuk Thae, Kim Jung Rin and Kim Ki Nam and other leading officials of the WPK Central Committee.

April 25, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il watched a grand military parade of units of the three services of the Korean People's Army, the Korean People's Security Forces, the Worker-Peasant Red Guards and the Young Red Guards was held at Kim Il Sung Square in Pyongyang to celebrate the 75th founding anniversary of the KPA. The parade also included �columns of rocket units... demonstrating the invincible might of the KPA equipped with modern offensive and defensive means.� Also on the reviewing stand with Kim were Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, Jo Myong Rok, first vice-chairman of the NDC and director of the KPA General Political Department, Kim Yong Il, premier of the Cabinet, Kim Kyok Sik, chief of the KPA General Staff, Kim Yong Chun and Ri Yong Mu, vice-chairmen of the NDC, Kim Il Chol, minister of the People's Armed Forces, Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the SPA Presidium, Choe Yong Rim, secretary general of the SPA Presidium, and Jon Pyong Ho, Choe Thae Bok, Kim Kuk Thae, Kim Jung Rin and Kim Ki Nam, secretaries of the WPK Central Committee, Kwak Pom Gi and Ro Tu Chol, vice-premiers, Kim Yong Dae, chairman of the C.C., the Korean Social Democratic Party, Ryu Mi Yong, chairwoman of the C.C., the Korean Chondoist Chongu Party, staff members of the KPA Supreme Command, commanders of the KPA services and arms, leading officials of party and armed forces organs and working people's organizations.

May 4, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected a sub-unit of KPA Unit 967. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Hyon Chol Hae and Kim Myong Guk and Vice Department Director of the WPK Central Committee Kang Tong Yun.

May 5, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected KPA Unit 977 honored with the title of the O Jung Hup-led Seventh Regiment. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Hyon Chol Hae and Kim Myong Guk and Vice Department Director of the WPK Central Committee Kang Tong Yun.

June 1, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il provided on-the-spot guidance to industrial establishments in Kanggye City, including the newly constructed Hungju Youth Power Station No. 2, the Kanggye Wine Factory, the newly built Kanggye Duck Farm, and taking a �bird's-eye-view of night scenery of Kanggye City.� Kim was accompanied by Pak To Chun, chief secretary of the Jagang Provincial Committee of the WPK, and Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the C.C., WPK.

June 2, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave on-the-spot guidance to the field of the preservation of revolutionary sites in Kanggye City, visiting the Ryudong Revolutionary Site, the Jagang Provincial Museum of Revolutionary Activities of Kim Il Sung, and saw a performance given by the Jagang Provincial Art Group. Kim was accompanied by Pak To Chun, chief secretary of the Jagang Provincial Committee of the WPK, and Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK.

June 6, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il watched a performance given by art groups of servicemen's families of Unit 313, Unit 757 and Unit 593 of the KPA that participated in the 10th contest among art groups of servicemen's families. Also present were KPA Vice Marshal Kim Yong Chun, vice-chairman of the NDC of the DPRK, KPA Vice Marshal Kim Il Chol, member of the NDC of the DPRK and minister of the People's Armed Forces, KPA General Kim Kyok Sik, chief of the General Staff of the KPA, and other KPA commanding officers, Secretaries of the C.C. of the WPK Choe Thae Bok, Kim Kuk Thae and Kim Ki Nam, First Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Sok Ju and other leading officials of the C.C. of the WPK.

June 7, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave on-the-spot-guidance to the work in various fields of North Phyongan Province, visiting the Pukjung Machine Complex, the Rakwon Machine Complex, and the Sinam Cooperative Farm in Ryongchon County. Kim was joined by Kim Phyong Hae, chief secretary of the North Phyongan Provincial Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and other leading officials of the WPK Central Committee.

June 17, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il watched a performance given by art groups of servicemen's families of KPA units 572, 564, 966, 264, 526 and 233 which participated in the tenth contest among art groups of servicemen's families of the KPA. Also present were KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and other commanding officers of the army and Ri Yong Chol, first vice department director of the C.C., WPK and other leading officials of the same. Following the performance, Kim met with lecturer Kim Yong Ok who suffered serious burns while protecting the slogans written on barked trees from the fire on Mujae Hill in 1998, but received medical attention from China.

June 25, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il watced an art performance given by the Russian State Academic People's Chorus Named after M.E. Pyatnichki. Kime met Aleksandra Permyakova, head and manager of the chorus. Also present at the performance were Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Ri Yong Chol, first vice department director of the WPK Central Committee, Pak Kyong Son, vice director of the International Department of the WPK Central Committee, KPA Generals Hyon Chol Hae and Ri Myong Su and KPA Lieut. General Jong Thae Gun.

July 3, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il received Yang Jiechi, Chinese foreign minister, and his party on a visit to the DPRK. Also present were Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, and Liu Xiaoming, Chinese ambassador to the DPRK.

July 26, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il attended a performance given at the Hamhung Grand Theatre by the State Academy Beryozka Dancing Troupe of Russia Named after N. S. Nadezhdina. Kim met with Mira Koltsova, head of the dancing troupe. Also present were Hong Song Nam, chief secretary of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Phung Gi, chairman of the South Hamgyong Provincial People's Committee, and Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the WPK Central Committee.

July 29, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il visited the Chusang Co-op Farm in Hamju County, South Hamgyong Province, where he participated in the election of deputies to the provincial, city and county people's assemblies of the DPRK. Kim also toured the farm. Kim was accompanied by Secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK Kim Ki Nam and Department Director of the WPK Central Committee Pak Nam Gi.

July 31, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected a sub-unit of KPA Unit 4318. Kim was accompanied by Hwang Pyong So and Kim Sung Yon, vice department directors of the WPK Central Committee.

August 1, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected the command of KPA Combined Unit 264. Kim was accompanied by Hwang Pyong So and Kim Sung Yon, vice department directors of the WPK Central Committee.

August 2, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected KPA Unit 136. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Hyon Chol Hae and Ri Myong Su.

August 3, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected the command of KPA Unit 273. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Hyon Chol Hae and Ri Myong Su.

August 5, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave on-site guidance to the newly built North Hamgyong Provincial People's Hospital. Kim was accompanied by Hong Sok Hyong, chief secretary of the North Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK, Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the WPK Central Committee and Pak Nam Gi, department director of the WPK Central Committee.

August 6, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave on-site guidance to the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex. Kim was accompanied by Hong Sok Hyong, chief secretary of the North Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK, and Pak Nam Gi, department director of the WPK Central Committee.

August 7, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave on-site guidance to the Songjin Steel Complex. He also visited a duck farm and a dormitory related to the steel complex. Kim was accompanied by Hong Sok Hyong, chief secretary of the North Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK.

August 10, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected a sub-unit of KPA Unit 156.

August 10, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave on-site guidance to the February 8 Vinalon Complex and the Ryongsong Machine Complex. Kim was accompanied by Hong Song Nam, chief secretary of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK, and Pak Nam Gi, department director of the WPK Central Committee.

August 11, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave on-the-spot guidance to the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex. Kim was joined by Chief Secretary of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK Hong Song Nam and Secretary Kim Ki Nam and Department Director Pak Nam Gi of the WPK Central Committee.

August 12, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave on-site guidance to the Hamhung Wood Processing Factory. Kim was accompanied by Hong Song Nam, chief secretary of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK, Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, and Pak Nam Gi, department director of the C.C., WPK.

August 12, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il visited the Jonggwang Temple in Wonsa-ri, Riwon County, South Hamgyong Province. Kim was accompanied by Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, and Pak Nam Gi, department director of the C.C., WPK.

August 13, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave on-site guidance to the Hamhung Disabled Soldiers' Plastic Daily Necessities Factory. Kim was joined by Hong Song Nam, chief secretary of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK.

August 13, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave on-site guidance to the Tanchon Mining Machine Plant and the Tanchon Smeltery. Kim was accompanied by Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, and Pak Nam Gi, department director of the C.C., WPK.

August 13, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected KPA Unit 1286.

August 23, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il visited the visited a display of art created at the Mansudae Art Studio and Pyongyang University of Fine Arts. Kim was accompanied by Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, Kang Nung Su, minister of Culture, and Ri Jae Il, first deputy department director of the C.C., WPK.

August 23, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il provided guidance to the work of the itinerant art agitation groups of the Kim Jong Thae Electric Locomotive Factory, the Taean Heavy Machine Complex and the Tobacco Complex, watching the performances given by them under different circumstances. [It is unclear if Kim actually made an appearance on August 23, or if he simply offered his comments that day.]

September 1, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il provided field guidance to industrial establishments in Manpho City. He visited the Manpho Smeltery and the Amnokgang Tire Plant. Kim was joined by Pak To Chun, chief secretary of the Jagang Provincial Committee of the WPK.

September 2, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il provided field guidance to different units in Songgan and Jonchon counties of Jagang Province. Kim visited the February General Steel Enterprise, the Jonchon Rock-Drill Factory, and the Jonchon County Commercial Management Office and the Jonchon manufactured goods shop. Kim was joined by Pak To Chun, chief secretary of the Jagang Provincial Committee of the WPK.

September 4, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il watched a performance given by the art group of families of servicemen of KPA unit 963. Also present were Secretary Kim Ki Nam, Department Director Kim Yang Gon and other senior officials of the WPK Central Committee and KPA commanding officers including KPA Generals Hyon Chol Hae, Kim Myong Guk and Ri Myong Su and KPA Colonel General Yun Jong Rin.

September 22, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il watched a performance given by the visiting State Academic Moiseyev Dance Company of Russia. Kim met briefly with Head of the Company Elena Scherbakova and Director and Russian People's Artiste Lev Golobanov. Also present were Secretaries of the Central Committee of the WPK Choe Thae Bok and Kim Ki Nam, First Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Sok Ju, First Vice Department Director of the Central Committee of the WPK Jang Song Thaek, Vice-Director of the International Department of the C.C., WPK Pak Kyong Son, Generals of the Korean People's Army Hyon Chol Hae and Ri Myong Su, and officials, creators and artistes in the field of culture and arts.

September 24, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected the stock-breeding base of KPA Unit 757, including the rabbit warren, the house of the warren manager Yun Ho Jung, a goat farm, and the families of discharged soldiers couple Pak Yong Chun and Kim Myong Son. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Hyon Chol Hae and Ri Myong Su, First Vice Department Director of the Central Committee of the WPK Jang Song Thaek, and Vice Department Director of the same Hwang Pyong So.

October 2, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il greeted south Korean President Roh Moo Hyun on a visit to Pyongyang. Also present were Kim Yong Il, premier of the Cabinet, Kim Il Chol, minister of the People's Armed Forces, Choe Thae Bok, chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly, Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the SPA Presidium, Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Kim Yong Dae, chairman of the Central Committee of the Korean Social Democratic Party, and leading officials of the party, armed forces and power organs, working people's organizations, ministries and national institutions. And on the South Korean side, Minister of Finance and Economy Kwon O Gyu, Minister of Science and Technology Kim U Sik, Minister of Unification Ri Jae Jong, Minister of National Defence Kim Jang Su, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Im Sang Gyu, Minister of Health and Welfare Pyon Jae Jin, Director of the National Intelligence Service Kim Man Bok and other suite members and reporters.

October 3, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il received gifts from south Korean President Roh Moo Hyun. Also present were [South Korean] President Roh Moo Hyun and his wife, Minister of Finance and Economy Kwon O Gyu, Minister of Unification Ri Jae Jong, Director of the National Intelligence Service Kim Man Bok, Chief for Unification, Diplomatic and Security Policies of Chongwadae Paek Jong Chon and other suite members.

October 3, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il visited the Paekhwawon State Guest House where [South Korean] President Roh Moo Hyun was staying and held talks with him.

October 4, 2007: General Secretary Kim Jong Il together with south Korean President Roh Moo Hyun signed the Declaration for the Development of North-South Relations and Peace and Prosperity. Also present were Kim Yong Il, premier of the Cabinet, Kim Il Chol, minister of the People's Armed Forces, and Kim Yang Gon, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and [South Korean] Minister of Finance and Economy Kwon O Gyu, Minister of Unification Ri Jae Jong, Director of the National Intelligence Service Kim Man Bok and Chief for Unification, Diplomatic and Security Polices of Chongwadae Paek Jong Chon.
